E3200 Ethernet ports

I have just replaced the Fios router and WiFi Extender with updated models from Verizon.  The old setup using a G1100  Router and a WCB6200Q Extender had worked well but Verizon recommended I upgrade to new equipment when I dropped the cable TV service.

the new equipment arrived this morning and I have worked for 6 hours on this.  The new router is a CR1000 and the Extender is an E3200.  They connect OK and the indicator lamp is solid white.  The WiFi  works well.  The problem I have is that I have an Ethernet switch with about eight wired connections to a printer, desktop computer, Lutron HUB and other hard-wired pieces of hardware.  The LAN1  & LAN2 Ethernet sockets on the Extender do not appear to be enabled.  The two green lights on the Ethernet sockets are not on or flashing and none of the wired connections are working.

Do I need to do something to enable the Ethernet ports on the back of the Extender

Do I need to do something in the router setup to enable the Ethernet ports?

UPDATE:

1) I discovered that the flat ethernet cable provided by Verizon was faulty.  I replaced that and everything works.

2) I discovered that there is a setting for the LEDs in the set up page and they can be turned on to indicate activity I did that and now the Ethernet lights are flashing as expected.
