FIOS, Ipv6 and actiontec router

Hello,

As many of you have noticed there is very little information available about Verizon's plans to upgrade FIOS to Ipv6.  I have the Actiontect MI424WR Rev C router which does not support Ipv6.  Now, I don't even know if Ipv6 is available yet in my area (which is the Maryland Suburbs of Washington DC).  So, does anyone know what the status of Ipv6 is and also what will FIOS do for customers who have older routers (which Verizon supplied us) that don't support Ipv6?

Thanks

Hi gang,

I called Verizon Fios Tech support late afternoon 1/18/2013.  I told them that I had a revision C router and that I was experiencing performance issues.  Today UPS came and delivered a revision F

router.  Revision F does support IPV6.  Yes, I know that could have purchased or nagged to get the new Gigabyte Router but, the only advantage to wireless N is if you have matching Internet speed.

For my home 35Megs/35 Megs is fine.  I will swap the router out over this holiday weekend and ship back the Revision C.

Most of the time they send a packing slip for the Rev A-D that says not to return it. Not sure if that was in the box or not. They will not reuse that router, or send it back out. I have an old rev D on my shelf. Generation 1 routers usually do not need to be returned.

I know at first when they sent replacements for the old revisions, they did want them back, that was years ago. I know I sent my first revision A back to them and received a revision D. When I was sent the gen. 2 rev. E, they said keep the D, or send it to the recycle. I kept it because it could be used for a bridge if I ever needed one. But the rev E, I believe needs to go back. I think the box has been on my floor too long. My rev E has been replaced with a rev I. My first FiOS router with 15/5 was a Netgear with no MOCA or TV. Those days if you had TV, they installed a NIM-100 MOCA bridge. By the time a cable TV franchise was issued in my county a bit later, the Actiontec Rev. A was out.

Rev. D

Rev. E

Rev. I

So I suppose I am on my 5th router. This one will stay for a number of years I am sure. It supports gigabit, and if I need any faster wireless that will be my issue. Now I am a happy Quantum 75/35 user. Wishing for 150/65 or higher some day.Smiley Wink

And I have another question - is there a limit to the number of wireless devices you can connect via an n-router? I currently have 3 computers, 3 wireless printers a Samsung wireless TV and 2 Samsung wireless DVD players. Everything works well except the Samsung wireless TV. It loses the network connection every 2 or 3 days and I have to power the router up and down to get the signal back.

No rev label - just a small label that says:

Model1424WR

F/W 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7

When it has no label take a look at the serial number
