FIOS ONT new installation what to expect?

This is a question for primarily, MillikenMode, but anyone please respond.

I hope you are still available, obviously you are well versed in this topic.  If your still around, I’m confident you can help me as well.

I am moving to a new condo. Construction is not completed so I can’t see the actual Verizon FIOS terminal box installed in the unit. Assuming it is the same as the one you described, how do the telephone and internet signals get distributed?

I have one telephone land line and Gigibit, high speed internet, I use YouTube TV so I will not be needing setup boxes. There are various coax and cat 6 connectors throughout the unit. I assume there are one or more telephone jacks, but there are non indicated on the layout.

my questions are:

1. Do I just plug into an Ethernet connector where I want a computer located?

2. Where do I plug in the hubs for various smart home devices.

3. in my previous home I had Verizon E300 repeaters. If I need them, do I plug them into coax or set up wireless?

Thanking you in advance,

frankfa

Ps. Anyone else on the forum with an answer please chime in.

This is a little vague. Let me put in this way: for computers with Ethernet ports, you need a connection between that port and a LAN port on a router or a switch (this can be G3100, E3200, your own switch, and etc.)

Hubs? Do you mean the terminal device for IoTs or an Ethernet hub? If it is a terminal device, connect it in the same way as I described for computers with Ethernet ports. If you mean an Ethernet hub, first of all, it is obsolete these days, and I think you mean an Ethernet switch instead of a hub. You just need to connect an Ethernet cable from your switch to a LAN port on a router or switch.

Since you have coax cabling available, I highly recommend you to use E3200s over coax with G3100. Also, there are two Ethernet ports available on each E3200, so these can be connected to your computers and IoTs too.
