I'm wanting to check for/download install a firmware upgrade for my Westell UltraLine Series3 A90-9100EM15-10.
It's currently running
Software Version: 1.02.00.04
Release Date: Aug 28 2008
I'm hoping there's an upgrade available that fixes the HDMI Handshake/dropout problem?
Anyway, the screen I'm taken to after clicking "upgrade" in the router's management UI says :
Check every xx hours at URL _______
The field after "at URL" is not populated.
If I click "check now" I get:
"URL must be in the format: protocol://user:password@host:port/path where protocol is one of http, https, ftp or tftp. Either user or password, or both, may be left out. The port number is also optional."
Was that URL field supposed to be populated by the tech who installed the FIOS?
Where can I find that URL so I can paste it in and get my firmware updates?

The Westell is your Internet wireless/MoCA router. It is responsible for your Internet access, and supplies guide data and VOD to the Motorola STBs and DVRs. It has nothing to do with the HDMI output on the Motorola boxes. It has nothing to do with the picture or sound on your local and cable channels.
Version 1.02.00.04 is the latest firmware available for the Westell 9100EM Internet router.

A year and a half seems like an awfully long time to go without a firmware update, when we know there are issues with this router. It's good, but it does drop packets and that issue has been unaddressed for too long.

I agree. this is WAY too long for a firmware upgrade. I believe Westec needs to address this issue or Verizon needs to find out a release date. Anyone?? At LEAST provide us a permanent URL so we don't have to constantly run around in circles waiting to see if one is released.
It's 2010 now and there is no reason there shouldn't be a newer version by now. Anyone?

I'm looking for the firmware 1.03.00.08 for this router. I know it exists, because that's what's on my original router that is being replaced by verizon. The new router they sent me has 1.02.00.04. The tag on both routers show the 1.02.00.04, but under "System Monitoring" on the old router, it clearly states 1.03.00.08.
Anyone know where to find this elusive file?
Thanks.

Are you losing it on wireless or on wired? I have this firmware and havent' had any problems running both. Have had mine for 3 years now. We disabled our wireless and use another router for that portion now and still haven't had any problems. Mine is running off coax vs. cat5. Sounds like you might be having another issue.

OK, pardon if this is a no brainer and you have tried this... But have you tried different WIFI channels, and specify wireless G only under advanced preferences... I think these routers are really good considering the cost, and I work with Cisco equipment for a living... I live in a highly populated WIFI area and run all kinds of servers and stuff behind mine with no issues... Good luck, and it's possible you just have a defective one, it happens...

Hi.. i'm having trouble disabling my UPnP feature on the 9100EM.. what happened is that I have several guests who will be sharing my internet, and I don't want them to use UPnP to open up my ports for something such as torrenting.... I don't trust anybody in my network except for me so I need make sure they're not doing stupid things with my internet..
After I disabled UPnP on my router, I deleted all the ports that are being forwarded, but what happened is that when I run an UPnP application, it forwards that application's port automatically. I'm currently running on 1.03.00.08 firmware.
This is how I disable my UPnP
Advance - UPnP - uncheck "Allow Other Network Users to Control Wireless Broadband Router's Network Features"
Any help will be very appreciated.. Thanks in advance

So why does Verizon's latest firmware link point to the older version instead 1.03.00.08?

What is the latest firmware version for this router now? Mine's a A90-9100EM15-10, hardware revision B. I have firmware version 50.03.00.10 (!). I don't recall if that's what it came with or if I updated it at some point.
I received the above router when I joined Verizon FiOS back in September 09. I was in WA state and we got migrated to Frontier. I'm actually no longer in a FiOS service area but still using the router.
I found http://my.verizon.com/micro/fiosrouters/?router=9100em but that points to http://download.verizon.net/webdownload/firmware/upgrades/westell_router_9100em/A90-9100EM15-10_1.02... , which sounds like an older version.
http://www.westell.com/support/ultraline-series3/a90-9100em15-10 is a useless page as the firmware link points to http://www.westell.com/docs/support-documents/fiosrouters55A0D6BADEA4.htm?Status=Master which is a busted page. Selecting any of the choices leads to no firmware. ๐

Anyone have any word on this router?
I tried both A90-9100EM15-10_1.02.00.04.rmt and A90-9100EM15-10-1.03.00.08-ENG.rmt on my router and receive the error " Downgrades are not allowed for this product."
As I mentioned, I have firmware version 50.03.00.10.

And, usually, contacting the mfg. doesn't help. They just redirect you to Verizon for support...which we know the end result of that....

From all signs - it looks like Verizon has retired that router, so whatever is on their website is the latest that Verizon has to offer.
http://my.verizon.com/micro/fiosrouters/ is the main site, and I am pretty confident it links to the same router firmware page you had a moment ago. Whatever is on that page is the latest that they have.

Hmmm, well, jandv's post links to http://download.verizon.net/webdownload/firmware/upgrades/westell_router_9100em/A90-9100EM15-10-1.03... which would seem to be newer than http://download.verizon.net/webdownload/firmware/upgrades/westell_router_9100em/A90-9100EM15-10_1.02... pointed to by http://my.verizon.com/micro/fiosrouters/?router=9100em .

I have:
Model Name: A90-9100EM15-10
Firmware Version: 2.01.02.00
That's the highest FW version I can find
If you try to load these firmware versions:
A90-9100EM15-10-1.03.00.08-ENG
or
A90-9100EM15-10_1.02.00.04
You get: Downgrades are not allowed for this product.
It would appear that 2.01.02.00 is sadly as good as it gets. Anyone have a different result?
Thanks

Same here - I just had a chat with support (my router has had to be hard rebooted 3 times this week - loses all internet connectivity) and they are sending a replacement tomorrow.
Gotta love the support for Verizon.
