Hi, I have a Fios internet service, it is fine if I connect with a wire. However, I can not connect to wifi even my laptop is just several feet far. Sometimes I can connect to it but the speed is extremely slow. I wonder if anyone can help me with this issue?

It is almost always an interference issue. The bind with 802.11b/g (Wi-Fi) is the spectrum it utilizes is not exclusively for Wi-Fi, and there are plenty of other users, including other Wi-Fi networks in the neighborhood that can interfere.

There are a couple of possible solutions. The Band Wi-Fi operates in space for 3 non-overlaping channels.

So log on to your router, and try other channels. The non-overlaping channels are 1, 6 and 11 IIRC. Set your wireless router to a different channel, and try it with your laptop. That may or may not help.

The other solutions is if your laptop supports dual band 802.11n, you can buy a dual band 802.11N wireless access point, and use it to provide wireless service. 802.11n operates in both the 2.4GHz and 5Ghz bands. There is more space, and fewer users in the 5GHz band at this point, so the chances of interference in the 5GHz band are lower.
