Install Wi-Fi Extender to G3100 Router Guest Subnet

I need to extend Wi-Fi coverage for the guest subnet on my G3100 router.   My first attempt was to install a TP-Link RE350.  But the RE350 automatic setup did not get a proper IP4 assignment from the G3100 router. 

Alternatives to the automatic setup that I tried were assigning a static IP address to the correct 192.200.1.x  subnet both on the router side and the extender side.  Neither worked.  I have no trouble connecting to the extender and browsing to its management page.  But even when the extender is on the correct subnet, the G3100 does not transfer packets to and from a device connected to the extender.

I have no trouble extending the primary G3100 subnet with the same extender.  Devices connected to the extender that way have no trouble reaching the Internet.

Since this is the only extender I've tried, I don't know if the problem is the extender, the router or the way I'm trying to set it up.   If you have ever attempted to attach a Wi-Fi extender to a G3100 router guest subnet, anything you can tell me about your experience would be helpful.

To extend G3100's Guest Network, RE350 needs to support VLAN tagging, which a quick Google search reveals that it does not.

Thanks, Cang_Household.  Is anything else needed?  Will any extender that supports VLAN work?  Do you know of specific extenders that will work?

I could hardly find any extenders that support VLAN. VLAN is largely used in a business network.

You could add a cheap managed switch to do bridge VLAN filtering, then put the extender behind it.

Having now read a brief description of VLANs, I'm not sure my original question was clear enough.  Do you understand that I am not looking for a device to divide a LAN into two subnets?  The G3100 already does that.  I only want to extend Wi-Fi coverage of the guest subnet.
