I live in a very rural area and knew I would probably never get high speed unless I got satellite internet. Well Saturday I started researching satellite internet because I've about had it with dial-up! I've waited 11 years for something, ANYTHING faster then dial-up! I went on Verizon just to make sure it still said "not available" but was SHOCKED when it said Great news, I could get high speed! So I did the online chat with a rep and she assured me that yes I could get it now, in the past month they added it. I didn't believe it. So I called Verizon and they told me the same thing. I ordered IMMEDIATELY! They are sending me the self-install kit and the service date is next Monday June 29. I am SO AFFRAID of getting my hopes crushed. Has anyone ever been told they could but then they change their minds? Or do you all think I really will get DSL?

Yep..I have haha...was in about the same situation as you, didn't have the option to get it for a long time, then was told we could! So we ordered, they sent the package and everything, then literally before we could hook it up, we got a letter saying OOPS! We made a mistake, please send alll that stuff back... But we did end up getting it eventually, it just took a few extra months...

Unfortunately I'm in the same situation as you were.. on dial-up, then seeing that Verizon DSL was "available." Lo and behold, we get our equipment, wait a week and a half for our SRD, only to have them tell us we're too far from their Central Office to get it. So we're still here on dial-up, waiting for the day we can get DSL if ever.

Nothing. If you go 3/4 mile down the road south, they have Roadrunner. If you go 3/4 mile down the road north, they have Verizon FiOS, which makes no sense to me. Time Warner has already said it would cost $17,000 just to rewire the lines here.

I am not a normal poster in the wireline side. But just wanted to say to those of you having issue out of range of dsl cable and the such. Its a little bit more but looking to the Verizon Wireless Air card. Much better than Dial up any day.
Gl to you
