Mesh network behind E3200 extender

I have a  mesh network setup in my house with the primary router in the living room.   When I switched from Comcast to Verizon Fios, they installed a CR1000A router in my garage and used a coax backhaul to an E3200 extender in my living room.

When I plug my mesh router into the E3200 extender, it doesn't connect to the internet.  If  I plug the mesh router into the CR1000A router in the garage,  everything works as expected and the mesh routers and clients all connect to the internet just fine.

The user manual for the E3200 is a bit unclear but  it appears that the two LAN ports can be used as regular ethernet ports when using the coax backhaul, so  I don't  see any reason this configuration shouldn't work.

The mesh network is the TP-Link Deco, which has been running fine for years and I use in multiple houses.

If you don't have FiOS TV, you can unplug the Verizon router and extender, and just use your Mesh router connected directly to the FiOS ONT (Fiber box) via Ethernet. This is probably going to be the best solution if you want to use the Deco system.

The ports on the E3200 might be taking a few minutes to start working. How long are you waiting to see if the connection comes up? Can you try connecting a device such as a laptop or game console to the E3200 to see if the ports supply Internet?

Thank you, I didn't realize I could plug directly into the ONT, I will try that as it seems to be the simplest solution.

I did notice when I plugged a laptop into the E3200 that it takes a long time to hand out an IP address, and I wonder if the Deco is just timing out before it gets assigned one.  The laptop did eventually work and get online.
