I upgrade my 300/300 Mbps to 1gb and Verizon sent me a new router(ca1000a) to replace the old one(G3100). With the G3100 I was getting bad speed on/with Wifi so I ended up adding a wifi mesh to the G3100, turning the wifi off on the G3100 and making the mesh the main wifi...with that said I was getting about 220+ on download and 185+ on upload with my 300/300 plan ...but with the new Ca1000a I'm getting no where near the 1gb mark...not even half. The highest I seen was 487 Mbps on download and 120 on upload and that's with me standing right next the to router with SON off. This is without the mesh system. I have not tried with the mesh system on the CA1000a yet. You figure a newer model router will have better outcome but guess not.
Verizon will not send me a extender duh to the 30day test. After 30day Verizon will decide if I need the extender or not. LoL and I been a Verizon fios customer for 25+yr.
I will let it flow for a couple more day and then test it with the mesh being the main WiFi and see if the numbers are better.
With 25+ yr with fios, all I can say is their Routers are TRASH.

You didn't mention what mesh system you have, but if you aren't using the older Verizon set-top boxes for TV service, you could use the router in the mesh system as your primary router. You might be happier with that setup.
