And one more. Not sure what it means that the longer I leave it running the "better" the numbers get?

Last one, I promise. This time I pinged verizon.net instead of google.com.

I am not. But I will plug my computer into the router and run the test then. The last time I plugged the computer into the router to run basic ping tests it was still having the same issues, FYI. Having looked at all of these tests, any thoughts? FiOS says they're going to get back to me next week but I'm not hopeful.

This is what happens when I run the test and I'm plugged directly into the router.

You're still showing high packet loss (17%) between your router and VZ's edge router.
You should not be seeing any packets dropped between you and the edge router.

I agree. How does Verizon fix this (that's a nicer way of asking: how do I tell Verizon to fix this)? Because so far they're...not being much help.

If you have packet loss to your 192.168.1.1 address, then that means the problem is in your home. either the router, the cable or the main box. so drop by a local store and replace the router, also check the coax cable and ethernet cable (maybe even replace the ethernet with a different one.
you should never have anything less than >1 ms when pinging your 192.168.1.1 address.
if those items do not fix it, then call tech support and let them know that you have gone so far as to replace the router, and replace the ethernet cable and retightened the coax cables to the router. With all that having been done, they should probably send a tech to test the main network terminal.

How do I test that? When I ping that (192.168.1.1) I'm not getting any "request timed out" messages, as I do when I test anything else.

your WIN MTR test results kinda show the loss and the MS times. so maybe use that tool to see it or test it again
