Port Forwarding on CR1000A

I am trying to set up port forwarding on my CR1000A.
I'm able to create a rule within the Port Forwarding section - but the port won't open when I attempt to connect via my VPN client, or check using a port checker tool.
I've tried using the DMZ, adjusting the General IPv4 Settings under Security & Firewall, toggling on/off DNS Rebind Protection, etc. I've also tried adjusting the Port Forwarding Rules and Port Triggering sections but those don't seem to do anything either.
Any advice? What am I missing?

Port forwarding is very well debugged on CR1000A.
Where are you running OpenVPN?
Nonetheless, OpenVPN is a userspace program and is very slow per computational power consumed.
