Prevent hacking

There are people out here. There are actively showing others how to hack into Wi-Fi routers from a distance using particular devices. I am suggesting Verizon get up on this information to prevent this from spreading. I have already experienced a breach in my information with Verizon, and truly hope that if they really want to be better, then they must understand that they are new techniques every day to getting into their systems

Use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption and keep WPS disabled, and you'll be fine. Change the password printed on the router as well to something else.

Verizon is aware of this sort of thing. The last time Verizon had any sort of significant issue with people driving up and hacking their way into a network was back when Verizon still used the ActionTec MI424WR routers. Those routers shipped with WEP security, which can be cracked as you're saying within seconds on any modern device. Additionally, you didn't even have to crack the WEP encryption, as you could run a WiFi Sniffing tool if someone didn't change their password or network name, and compute the password. The password on the old ActionTecs were derived from the WiFi MAC Address and the Network Name. The new Verizon routers do not use such a mechanism to create a network password, and they ship with WPA2 enabled by default.

Verizon is actively trying to get people off of ActionTec Fios routers. They're old and unsupported.
