For the past 2 weeks or so, my G1100 router will no longer connect reliably at 5ghz. My devices will connect and then immediately disconnect or refuse to connect at all. If I reboot the router or change anything in the wifi settings that causes the router to reset the wireless, 5ghz will work again for a day or so, but then the same thing will happen. I have tried many different 5ghz channels, but none fix the issue for more than a day or so. I have no issues with 2.4ghz, only 5ghz. Prior to this problem recently, everything worked fine for over a year. I posted over at DSLReports and one other person has the same issue, but no one has any resolution to the problem.
Has anyone here seen this issue? Does anyone know if Verizon pushed a firmware update over the last 2 weeks?

I advise everyone to consider being their own Wi-Fi router (Such as Eero Pro 6), disabling the wifi on the G1100 and using it only to feed Fios channel information to the STB. It is ludicrous to pay the exorbitant amount of money Verizon wants for their routers, as apposed to buying you own and have the ability to use them with another provider should Verizon no longer suit your need.

Most people should have.
If not, try rebooting router to see if it downloads update.
nope, no update here.
Me neither (Maryland)
There is no widespread update. Just look over at dsl reports in your own thread and the spin off thread. Branch has stated it is not going out in any sort of order. And some that have received it are saying it did not fix the problem. One poster stated it was just a GUI update so no real update.
Ask yourself this question? Why would it only go out to a certain few? Beta testing?

Beta testing on customers?
I hope you are not serious!

You know when DirectTVNOW first started there were so many complaints against the service that customers were saying it was in beta testing. However bad it was at the start I stayed because $35 for life was a good deal. And sure enough 1 year later they are the fastest growing streaming tv service out there. So beta testing worked.
in all seriousness when there is a firmware update for my Netgear I and everyone else get to put the new one on the device. Now think about this Greenwave (Verizon) situation. Some people claim they received it. Why not all customers? those that have received it some said it was gone after a short time and it was rolled back to previous. Does that sound like beta testing the firmware?
Points to ponder. Also you had one forum member claim they received it and it is working. What do you think?

I signed up for directv now as soon as it became available as well. I did not notice any issues then, except for some channels playing music instead of commercials (I liked that better :)). I even got apple tv for free as I paid for three month of directv now at once. And I am willingly testing the directv now beta, that offers recording.
The difference is: directv now was a newly launched service, and fios Internet is not.

Companies do beta testing all the time. Microsoft and Apple just a few that are well established and do beta. Also some modem and router manufacturers also do the same.

Very true, but customers are usually aware about the beta testing, and give their consent.

There is a widespread update that started yesterday,
I received mine.
I understand others have as well,
But if you don't have it, I would contact support.
My suggestion is twitter @verizonsupport.

Unfortunately, it appears the only way to force upgrade is factory reset.
Save off configs first.
Reset and then import configs.

Yes, indeed. Backup, reset, restore.
Now I have Firmware Version 02.00.01.07.

I am pleased to report that after the firmware update my 5ghz radio has been working for six days. For those users of the Quantum 1100 that have 5ghz dropout issues look back a page or two here and find out how to save, reset and reboot. Good luck! The firmware update was a long time coming with no info from VZ as to it's arrival.

I didn't have to reset or reboot my router. I got it overnight 2 days ago. There's a post on DSLReports that says everyone should have the fix by Feb 20.

I am also pleased to report that after the firmware update my 5 ghz radio has been working for seven days now without so much as a hiccup.. It's never EVER performed properly on 5 ghz for this long before the update. Yep, even I being ever most sceptical about a true fix to this issue, believe that Verizon (or whichever other company involved) has FINALLY NAILED IT! The firmware update was a long time coming. I forced the update last week via the reset button on the rear just because it looked like from chatter here, that it might be available manually, and it was. I waited on purpose for a week before I announced success. Yep, SUCCESS!
Thanks to all involved, including we the people on this forum, to eventually pushing the awareness enough to get the issue resolved once and for all, and allowing each other to keep each other the status of this matter along the way. Congrats to all!

Yup, unfortunately I think the problem still persists at some level. Have tried setting Auto or fixed channel serting but our laptops still have problems using 5G on the router with the latest firmware. Phones and Chromecast devices seem to be more stable though I sometimes see my phone wireless trying to reconnect. I have turned off 5G on the router again and back to just using 5G on the Actiontech extender, which has been working for almost 4 years with no issues at all.

Bmaore222 thanks for the 5ghz channel tip. I thought the problem was finally fixed after the firmware update. Worked fine for over a week, no hickups. I went away for 10 days and upon my return the 5ghz channel was asleep again. I changed the channel from auto to 44 and it is working again. We shall see...

The 5ghz connection continues to drop randomly at times, even with the newest firmware 02.00.01.08. I notice it mostly when playing Xbox Live because the connection drops just enough to kick me out of every game, it's very frustrating.
At this point i'm not sure what to do, i'd love to get rid of this but I can't lose the TV features that come along with having it.
Has anyone been able to replace this piece of garbage with their own set up, keeping the Moca functionality for TV?

You can use your own router with a MOCA adapter to have the VOD and channel guide. Just do a search on the forum on the steps to achieve it. Or here https://m.wikihow.com/Use-Your-Own-Router-With-Verizon-FiOS
