Replacement Backup Battery

Once again, Verizon punishes long term customers.  The backup battery for my FiOS services died and I just found out that Verizon only covers its own equipment for 1 year.  Thank you Verizon for forcing your loyal customers to spend money to fix your equipment.

This subject matter was recently beaten to death.

Simply put, it is an unrealistic expectation that Verizon will replace the battery forever.

Unrealistic?  Really?  This battery provides the ability to contact emergency services in the event of a black out.  My battery is just over a year old.  It is dead.  Seems to me like Verizon wants me to go back to Comcast.  I am starting the research now.

I had a similar problem with my late model car last year.  This could escalate into a serious issue because we use that car to take my wife's mother (she's 92) to the hospital each time she has a problem.

Strangely enough, Honda simply refused to ship me a new free battery (including installation, of course).  Toyota, here I come.

I never heard of any thing so ridiculous!  Verizon should not replace your battery.  You, my friend, are looking for something which no other company in the world would provide.Smiley LOL

ADT promptly shipped me new backup battery at no cost when mine failed so you are out of touch with what services a reliable company stand behind!

I recently went through the exact same ordeal with Verizon. The comparison of the car vs Verizon is stupid. If you own the car, then you should fix it. We don't own ANY of the Verizon equipment. They expect us to repair and maintain thier equipment. What happened to Verizon maintaining their own equipment. That's the way it used to be.

There are several providers.  Choose another one if you are not satisfied.  I, personally think you are asking for something that is nrver provided , that is you want Verizon to provide you a battery for life.

If you're referring to my post, I apologize for writing something stupid.  I apologize because I'm just in that kind of mood, and from now on I'll make every effort to write material passes some sort of intelligence test.

Getting back to the subject, there are such things as leased vehicles, and those individuals who only "rent" cars are still responsible for the replacement of parts that wear out in normal use (think "tires").
I hope this comment passes the "smart" test, and good luck in the future.

Comcast VoIP cable modems have batteries, just like Verizon's ONT.  They will need to be replaced every few years, just like Verizon's batteries.  Comcast customers have to pay for their batteries, just like Verizon's users.

In other words, Comcast and Verizon are identical in this regard.

Now, for those who are complaining about the cost of the battery, know that you don't have to purchase one from Verizon.  There are plenty of other cheaper options.  Some have been posted here.  An external UPS is another approach, since you can add as much extra battery power as you can afford.

Good Luck

I am a senior living in a senior housing unit. I was forced to subscribe to Verizon. The building management has committed all to a ten year plan.  It is unreal than now I have to pay for backup battery.  for 40. Dollars, where the hell am I going to get that kind of money for a battery.  I really am unhappy with Verizon.  The speed of internet so slow. Truly disapointed with Verizon

A customer thinks it's unread=sonable for verizon to warranat their battery? Probably works there. It says the battery may damage their equipment, I hope so, I don't pay $160 A MONTH TO WORK ON THEIR EQUIPMENT OR BUY BATTERIES TO MAKE SURE IT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY.  Once my commitment is up it's bye bye Verizon. Same services can be purchased from Comcast. Don't believe the fios bull, doesn't work any better or faster. I will not buy a battery to operate your equipment, nor will I install it myself.  The only thing I will do is cut the service wire when my term is up. Then you can make an appointment with me to remove your equipment and dispose of your dead battery, not mine.

You don't even need the battery for the service to function. It's only used in case you lose power. If you're not worried about losing power, don't worry about replacing the battery. (Which takes about 30 seconds to do, btw and costs about $15.) Just wondering, when the batteries run dry on any device in your home - remote controls, hand-held games, flashlights, alarm systems, etc. - do you "cut the service wire" on those as well? Or do you buy new batteries?

My ADT alarm backup battery recently died.  ADT immediately shipped one to me at no cost.  This Verizon replace at your own cost policy is last of many nails in their coffin.  BrightHouse or Direct TV here I come!
