Since last Tuesday on March 1st, my internet has been going extremely slow. This has been my first time encountering this problem since I first started my internet services in 2004. I tried calling the support phone number which only gave me the speedtest after I said I had slow connection. How is that supposed to help me? How do I fix my internet speed? Please help me.
Another Note: When I called a few days ago, the answering machine told me that there was a power outage near my area, but it has been days since I called again today.
I have a westell model 327W with a faster internet plan of 1.5 to 3 mbps. I have two computers connected with the cables to it.
And when I did the speedtest I got:
Download speed 0.045mbps
Upload speed 0.549mbps
The details gave me this:
Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done
SendBufferSize set to [8192]
running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 549.67Kb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 45.64kb/s
------ Client System Details ------
OS data: Name = Windows Vista, Architecture = x86, Version = 6.0
Java data: Vendor = Sun Microsystems Inc., Version = 1.6.0_13
------ Web100 Detailed Analysis ------

The connection was idle 4.22 seconds (24.82%) of the time
This connection is network limited 99.88% of the time.
Excessive packet loss is impacting your performance, check the auto-negotiate function on your local PC and network switch

well on feb 24 2011 we were switched from the 1.5-3 mbps package to the 4 -7 mbps package and from feb 24 to about march 3 our router said we were connected at 7101 mbps down and 860 up now as of today the router says we have 6204 down and 860 up and when we ask verizon why the down speed changed the flat outright refuse to answer the drop in speed has caused us to only be able to run one pc on the internet and we can not stream a movie on our tv I think they cut our internet down intentionaly and refuse to bump it back up we may have to sue

To OP (the person who started this thread) :
#1 Log into the modem at http://192.168.1.1/
#2 Choose System Monitoring in the navigation, Advanced Monitors from the Left Hand Side Navigation and then choose System Logging. Post up the contents of the "All" log, either via pastebin.com or via Copy and Paste (Pastebin is preferred since it helps to keep the thread tidy looking). Additionally, post up your modem's Transceiver Statistics (found in the Advanced Monitors section as well) which you can Copy and Paste into the post here.

Ok.
#1 Do you know where the NID is?
#2 If so, conenct the modem directly to the test jack in the NID.

yes we too have been experiencing ridiculous delays since around march 15th. we have the 4 to 7 Mbps internet plan and for what we do we have never had any problems. we like to stream alot of videos. today my girlfriend was using skype and kept being disconnected with her parents every few minutes, nothing else was running at that time. she was only on skype thats it. nothing else was running, no websites up no d/l's running no movies streaming. Everytime we run the speed test it seems fine but I feel it is the internet connection that is causing the issue and not my computer. we run 2 computers and xbox 360 and stream movies through netflix. had no issues previously.
used to be able to stream a movie at HD quality on netflix while my girlfriend could stream and watch videos on her laptop. for the past week we have ridiculously slow load times for each web page cannot stream in HD the movies cut in and out telling us that the speed has changed and its constantly going down. I've reset my modem 8 to 10 times now and reset it twice since that has resolved issues in the past, however not this time. could this have to do with the new Iphone possibly? have contacted verizon now however I dispise talking to them using the same troubleshooting methods that I've already done on my own and being on the phone for 2 to 3 hours while nothing gets done. giant waste of my time. I don't know what to do next.
you know whats funny.. I started a speed test when I started writing this email and ITS STILL RUNNING!!!!! tell me there's nothing wrong.
