Splitting ONT Ethernet

Currently I have Ethernet going from my ONT directly to my Actiontec router.
Can I add a switch between the ONT's Ethernet connection and the Actiontec router. Would a new device on that switch be served an IP address (via DHCP) or does the ONT just provide one static IP address that's reserved for the Actiontec router?
The problem I'm trying to solve is that I want an Ethernet jack available in the same room as the ONT and since the one and only ONT jack is wired to the Actiontec router I need another way to get one.
Alternatively can I plug something into the coax splitter via RG6 and convert that to Ethernet; like some sort of MOCA adapter.
