Ubiquiti UDM Pro direct to ONT?

Hey folks,
I have symetric gig internet service (ONT to G1100), one set-top box and I don't use the G1100 for WiFi.
I want to use the UDM Pro as my firewall/router.
I plugged it directly into the ONT and rebooted everything, but the UDM Pro didn't appear to pull an IP address from the ONT. Is it safe to assume the ONT is set to Moca and I have to call Verizon customer service to get it changed to Ethernet for my UDM Pro to pull an IP directly from the ONT?
If I have verizon change the ONT setting from Moca to Ethernet, will it break my set-top box functionality? I think I read the STB needs the coax connection from the ONT to the G1100 to work correctly. Is that right?
In summery, what's the best practice to keep my set top box functioning correctly while using the UDM Pro as my firewall/router? I'd love to get rid of the G1100, but it sounds like the STB needs it.
If the STB requires the G1100 gateway and I want to use the UDM Pro as my firewall/router, is disabling DHCP on the G1100 enough? I think I'd have to turn off it's NAT and firewall functionality too which I don't see spelled out in any of the forum guides. I don't see the option to turn off the G1100 firewall in the device GUI.
TIA!
/Andy

When you have Fios TV service, a Verizon/Fios Router is required to be the primary NAT.
Secondary routers can be attached downstream of the Fios Router, but cannot have the NAT turned on and must support inter-VLAN routing. UDM Pro performs NAT by default and does not allow the user to turn this feature off. Given this limitation, it cannot be used.
