Unable to Stay Logged On To Verizon

It used to be fairly simple - check the box "Keep Me Logged On" and log onto your Verizon account. However, this doesn't work anymore and I have to log in each and every time I want to access any of Verizon services. This is annoying as I frequently use the FiOS television guide online and also check incoming phone calls and messages throughout the day.

I'm using Safari Version 8.0.2 (10600.2.5) on OS X  10.10.1 (Yosemite) and this problem arose only within the past several days. I have rebooted and cleared all cookies to no avail. Furthermore, I'm not on the Verizon page continuously and merely timing out - I simply check the box labled "Keep Me Logged In", log in with my User Name and Password, access the information I need, and then close the page without logging out. However, the next time I try to access the page, I am once again required to log in.

Any ideas why I'm continually getting kicked off?

I don't know why you're getting logged off but I'm having the same problem here with Windows 7 and IE 11.

Some time ago I found if I saved a URL link to this forum and used that link to come back to the forum after having left, I would stay signed in.  Recently my work-around has stopped working and I now have to sign back in every time I come to the forum.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for the problem to be corrected. Smiley Sad

I found a post over on the FiOS television subforum suggesting that the problem occurred when Verizon attempted to correct another annoyance - the intermediate stop at the Verizon sales pitch page whenever you try to access any of the Verizon FiOS services (e.g., television guide, telephone messages, etc.) directly through a browser bookmark.

I, too, am forced to continually log back in.  I don't even see the "2 week" option anymore.

I’ve selected the “Keep Me Signed In” function on the My Verizon sign-in page.  It used to work on the old “verizon.com” URL (website address) sign-in page, but it doesn’t work on the new “verizonwireless.com” URL sign-in page.  Why?

We apologize for your inconvenience.  We are in the process of making some security enhancements and other changes to our wireline My Verizon site.  “Keep Me Signed In” is one of the items being changed and is unavailable for some of our customers.  This is a temporary situation until the function can be removed entirely.

Wait... so this is Verizon's solution for not being able to stay logged in?

"This is a temporary situation until the function can be removed entirely."

I interpret the above statement to indicate that Verizon is planning to eliminate altogether the customer's ability to stay logged into their account. This would be totally unacceptable given Verizon's klunky 90-second login process.

Please clarify what is meant by the quoted respnse from the referenced post

I totally agree. It seems to kick me off more rapidly on my iPad than on my Macbook Pro.

Another thing is that I have to identify myself twice: first at the Verizon Webmail website; then, after entering my user name it goes to a Verizon Wireless (!) website (and I'm not even a VZW customer!) where I'm asked to enter my ID or wireless #. I enter my user name once again, and only then am I presented with an opportunity to enter my password...again.

My uderstanding is that Verizon is trying to make thir site safer because they were hacked.

Eliminating the "Keep Me Logged In" feature, if that's where they're truly headed, only protects a single individual's unguarded account from being accessed; it does nothing to protect the Verizon network itself from being hacked.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for adding safeguards such as requiring a user's password to be re-entered (even though they're already logged in) for critical operations such as changing account settings, purchasing products, etc., but to require logging in each and every time a Verizon FiOS customer wishes to check the TV listings, find out whether they missed any phone calls, or participate in this forum.... that 's ridiculous.

Verizon's TV listings are perhaps the best example of corporate idiocy today. Why should you have to log in at all? It's not like they're showing you a customized listing based upon your specific subscription package - it simply lists every single channel available in your particular geographic area whether you're authorized to view it or not. Why not just have a customer (or even a non-customer for that matter) enter their zip code and add a cookie to remember it?

I called Verizon on Sat.,March 28th, 2015.  They are merging their internet and email service.  Customers will be unable to stay logged in until June 2015.  I reside in Massachusetts, and don't know if this problem is just here or nationwide.

I had the same problem having to constantly log in with Safari 8.03  I called Verizon tech who had me try with a Firefox browser and I had no problems.  I just installed Safari 8.04 and I have no problems staying logged in. It was the (corrupt ?) browser, not Verizon.
