Use coax outlet for ethernet, home on Ethernet WAN

I just have internet from Fios in my home using Ethernet WAN. I also have coaxial cables set up in the house which i earlier used to use for Fios TV. Have become a cord cutter since then. Can I use the coaxial outlet near my TV for an ethernet connection for the TV? Will a MoCa adapter work?

Thanks

What kind of router do you have? A G3100, G1100, or even CR1000A?

These routers have a built-in MoCA LAN adapter, so addition of another MoCA adapter at your remote location would suffice your purpose.

I recommend the following MoCA adapters in terms of their stability and performance.

Fios Network Adapter (FNA), $55 each. Bonded MoCA 2.0 with 4 GbE ports.https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-network-adapter/

MoCA Ethernet Adapter (MEA, successor of FNA), $99 each. MoCA 2.5 with 2.5GbE and 3 GbE. https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/moca-ethernet-adapter/

Third-party MoCA vendors

goCoax WF-308M, MoCA 2.5 with GbE. ~$55 each.

goCoax MA2500C/D, MoCA 2.5 with 2.5GbE. ~$65 each.

These are single port MoCA adapters. You can add an unmanaged switch for more ports.

In addition to the excellent suggestions posted by Cang_Household, when repurposing coaxial cable, I always like to offer that the connectors and any/all splitters be inspected. Re-terminate any poorly applied connectors (eliminate any twist-ons). Crimp connectors are ok, but compression connectors are now standard. If splitters are old, consider replacing with models compatible with MoCA 2.0 or higher. 🙂

The first picture in this article shows the difference between a good quality splitter and a low-quality splitter.
