I have had Verizon Fios for a while now and although i love the service, it is FAR too expensive. I just called to see what it would take to cancel my service and it came out to $350.00. I undersatnd that i signed a contract but that is **bleep** ridiculous. Makes sense though, because now i dont know if i should keep the account or go ahead and pay more to cancel my cable then my MONTHLY CAR PAYMENT. There should be a discounted termination fee for customers who have been loyal to Verizon. I have been with Verizon for almost 2 years now and this is ridiculous. Every customer service person i have been in contact with is short and rude and i just hate it here. i dont know if this will do anything except for make me feel better for Verizon TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE. $350.00 is **bleep** INSANE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How do you sleep at night?

You are talking to other Verizon peers here, not Verizon although they do sometimes esculate certain issues to customer service.
If you read the terms of service before signing you would have known there's an early termination fee that applies if you are locked in a contract. They make this very clear. You really dont even have to read the tos to see it. They put it right in front of you before submitting anything or if by phone they tell you about it. They don't hide it. The ETF does lower by $10 per month for every month you have service in most cases unless your contract is different so you must have just resigned a contract with them to be the full amount.
I never understand why people sign a contract then act surprised when something like this comes up. If you don't want a contract then don't sign one and agree to it. Verizon does offer non contract rates.
If you don't like the way they do business then simply go elsewhere, but be responsible with what you agreed to, don't blame them for not knowing about the etf.

The “non contract” rates are ridiculously expensive. And why so much money for all the “fees?” Verizon should advertise up front what people will really be paying! And let us choose our own packages!!!

I have been a fios customer for 20 years, and the best deal they can give me is $196! Don’t get roped in by Verizon. Once they hook you, they couldn’t care less about you. I have to pay almost 50 dollars in fees alone! The only reason I haven’t switched is because it’s very inconvenient. Who has time to wait all day for the cable guy?
