Verizon Wants Me to Return My Own Equipment

I received a return box from Verizon today to send back my equipment after a disconnection. Inside, there is a receipt that lists the items they are expecting me to return. One of them is G1100, the FIOS internet gateway. But the gateway we've been using belongs to us - we bought it on Amazon when we set up our account at a previous address. There has never been an equipment charge for this gateway on our bill, so they should know that it's not theirs. Any advice on getting this resolved? I have a feeling if I return the set top box only, I will be receiving a bill for OUR gateway soon....
