Verizon is making it impossible to cancel fios account

I have spent almost 3 hours today, trying to cancel my Verizon Fios account.  It seems Verizon engages in deceptive practices, at least that is my opinion.  I have been involved with three (3) different chat agents and when you get transferred to the cancellation department and it seems you are need the end, after answer the same questions of why you are cancelling, where you now live, and is there anyone that may want to take over service, the chat agents either discontinue communications or the system times out and you lose the chat and the agent.  Yes, I have printed every chat log through the entire process, even my expressions of frustration.   Does anyone have a suggestion of what to do?  I have thought of contacting my bank and placing a stop payment order on any "auto pay" to Verizon and even thought contact consumer affairs for may state.  Looking for thoughts.  Thanks.
