(1) What speeds are available and where?
10/2 -> 15/5 (all service areas)
20/5 -> 25/15 (all service areas)
20/20 -> upgraded to 35/20 in NYC only
50/20 -> No change
(2) Will it be an automatic upgrade? Or will I need to call?
It will not be an Automatic upgrade. It will be just like last year however there may be a pricing change of $5-10 more check with your local Billing rep on for exact amounts. You can reach them through 888-553-1555 and following the billing prompts for a representative.
(3) When can I call and what should I say?
You can call on Monday and ask to be upgraded to the higher speed and rebundle.
(4) How much will the upgrade cost?
The best person to ask would be the Verizon Billing office on Monday. However if you only had internet service and are month to month the upgrade is free since that price hasn't changed. This will also be a 1 year Terms of Service agreement
(5) Can I get the upgrade if have just have an Internet+phone bundle? How about Internet+TV bundles?
you can get the upgrade if you have a bundle or not

I dont know if 20/20 will be upgraded its possible. also when you do speedtest it isnt always going to be exactly 20Mb it will always usually show 1-3Mb lower than the speed your getting depending on where the server is located. since NY got the 35/20 its possible the 20/20 would be upgraded to 25/20
I'm aware that speed tests vary depending on which site and server used to measure. However, msiad.visualware.com has consistently given me the same results without varying (always 20 mbps plus a little extra) so that's why I bring it up. Other sites that I've used that can vary (ex. speakeasy.net) are also showing it max out at 18-19 mbps where it usually is pretty good and shows around the full 20 mbps. So this isn't you typical varying results from different speed test servers and sites. Sites that used to give me consistent reliable results are now showing a slight decrease in download speed only - upload has been unaffected.

I have the double play (Internet at 20/5 and the TV Service) at $79.99. To upgrade to 25/15 the cost is $5 so the monthy price would be $84.99. To upgrade to 35/25 the cost is $94.99. I was told either one is available in my area (Long Island, NY) with my existing service.

Dgiles79,
I am on that current plan you are on. I have not at this time upgraded since it will increase my amount by $15 so your not alone there.

Yeah, I recently had a tech out to the house whose primary mobile provider was T-Mobile (and was so happy to hear he could get the 1,000 mins n/w for the same price he was paying for 600 mins n/w he actually upgraded his BlackBerry at the same time.. I know this as he had to come back out a week or so later and noticed a newer model/non cracked BB..) 🙂
Though I think it a shame most end up w/2 phones atleast 1 of which is a VzW. With the amount of time they must spend on the phone w/NT's and calling customers they should be provided a phone.

I just upgraded from 20/5 to 25/15 for $5. They added on the online backup plan without my consent.
So I called and cancelled the backup plan. Now they are quoting me $10 for the speed upgrade.
The pricing seems inconsistent. However they did tell me when I called back that I also get access
to wifi hotspots for free with my speed upgrade.

Hi Jim,
Can you tell me how you obtained this price? I was on hold with Verizon for nearly 40 minutes attempting to get the 25/15 for $84.99 - they wanted to bend me over for an extra $10. Did you call a number other than 888-553-1555?
Thanks!
Verizon - Your prices MUST be consistent among all venues. I should not have to know 'where' to obtain a specified price, I should be able to talk to any part of Verizon and get the same price as everyone else. There's no reason I have to be on hold to talk to the 'Escalations Department' onlyfor them to try to give me the shaft again. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Yep. My package is exactly how you described it. Internet (20/5) and TV for $79.99. When I called, I got nothing but '$94.99' quotes, even after referencing these forums. The CS Rep asked me to ask you how you obtained it, since it 'could have been a special offer or through a vendor' ... I had a feeling it wasn't, though - it's just Verizon being Verizon.

Agreed. It's a despicable business attitude that I thought they sloughed off when they started moving to push FiOS.
I can understand not having specific tiers available (i.e. Maryland does not have a 35/20 as you mentioned you had), but there is absolutely no reason why an equal package should not be the same in all markets - or at least in the same region (as we're both Mid-Atlantic).
Thanks for your responses.
