At first I was just trying to apply the discount of Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) which I had been approved. When I called Verizon, telling the machine I am applying for ACP, I was directed to "someone". He said before helping me with the ACP application, I was qualified for a "special promotion" to receive a free $100 gift card. He asked for my credit card number saying that I have to pay for an little activation fee. I know it sounds dump now but at that moment I just didn't think much... I was calling the Verizon number, what could go wrong?
Then he played a voice recording and told me to say "ok" after that. Next he played another recording and told me to say "ok"... After he played the thrid recording and told me to say "okay", I said "Okay, this have to stop..." He said "Thank you!" Then played another recording... And I just hung up.
Later I found that I have subscribed for 3 items and my credit card was charged. I have to call my bank and cancel my card.
But that was not the end of the story.
I realized that my monthly bill was increased from $49.99 to $53.99 (I haven't check my bill for long time). I contacted Verizon on chat, asking when there was the increase. The agent said he can help me and found a special promotion that not only can lower my bill back to $49.99 but can also upgrade my internet from 300mb to 1gig for free. I repeatly confirm with him thisis absolutely free and he said yes.
Then I got my free router, installed it... and then I found out my bill didn't drop back to $49.99, but increased to $80 something. I called Verizon and they told me I recently upgraded my service. I told them what happened and they said nothing they can do. So basically Verizon lied to me and tricked me to upgraded to a more expensive service. I insisted that they told me this is a free upgrade. At the end one staff said he will take care and fix it. I triple confirm with him that my bill will be back to $49.99 and he said yes.
And now I see my bill... there is a $25 dollar credit so my bill is $60.49... and Iam not sure if this is permenant or that is just a one time $25 credit...
So I was being lied to once again. I am so frustrated now and so scare to contact Verizon or receive any calls from them now.
Oh, and I still didn't able to applied my ACPdiscount.
