I am considering signing up for Verizon FIOS TV and Internet service. I understand that Verizon requires that you use the router that they supply if you have both Internet and TV service and that the router that is being installed in Northern Virginia (Vienna) is the Actiontec MI 424 MR.
I have looked at the various versions of the Actiontec manual and see that the type of parental controls available vary. I wanted to find out what firmware version Actiontec router would be installed.
I specifically wish to be able to set day and hour Internet access times for my children (filtered by MAC address) by setting up rules or some other way. Thanks.

I can't speak specifically for Virginia, but they have been installing the Rev 2 Release of the actiontec Router with either 20.8.0 or 20.0.0 Firmware. This firmware does have the ability to limit access by day of week and time of day.

I does not really matter as the router is set to auto update to the latest firmware with in 24hrs of firmware release. Just make sure you are getting the latest hardware, which I believe is version E. This one has all rounded endges and is a flat box plus it says E on the bottom. I have the E router and the firmware I am running is 20.9.0 (i'm in PA). I suspect this is what you will get also, if not then ask the installer for the new router. He likely has several in his truck.

Thanks to both of the members who responded. I went to the Actiontec website and looked at the user's manual for the latest Verizon MI424WR router and it does have the features that I was looking for. One other option that I wanted is to be able to temporarily disable a Parental rule. It appears that the only option available for specific rules is to delete them.
I'll be on the lookout for the latest box when the installation person arrives. I see that the Rev E versions include a USB port for future use.
Thanks again.

I have the Rev 2 Actiontec with the latest Firmware and just created a test rule and you are corrrect.
There is no Disable Rule Option, only Delete Rule. Dosn't make sense because in other areas you can disable rules.
