I called XM Radio and they told me they DO NOT block IP addresses. They said the problem is not on their end and is most likely my computer. Funny thing is I can access the site using my blackberry. Also, as of today I can no longer access http://verizon.msn.com  but I can access other websites. Strange.

Here it is, Just so there is no confusion I had 3 friends all who have Verizon DSL accounts try to access the website. They could not. I had 3 other frineds on Comcast HSI access the site with no problem at all.  I Can access the site using an online proxy server from proxy.org

No, I already tried using the ip address directly. I have a feeling it might be a router issue in the DC area. I asked Verizon Direct in the DSL Reports forum to escalate it to an engineer. This has happened to me once before with another website and it turned out to be a router.

Pardon my non-belief, but I find it hard to believe that they don't block IP addresses. Every large commercial site I have ever dealt with does block IP addresses that have been used in hacking and/or denial of service attacks.

My guess is the person you spoke to isn't involved in the inner workings of the web site.

My other observation is that almost everyone will say it is your computer, because they don't have the ability to do anyting on their side. I can remember arguing with a Cable company a few years back for weeks that they had a problem that was easily demonstrated. After about 3 weeks they finally sent someone out, who ran the same test, and acknowleged it really was a problem on their end. They simply refused to believe the customer might actually know something.

Unfortunately when I call the CSR for XM Radio, You get their outsourced call center in Pakistan, so indeed YES chances are they haven't a clue, but I narrowed the problem down to Verizon DSL customers by asking others to try as well. I am going to wait and see what Engineering says and take it from there.  Thanks.

I too have the same issue accessing the XM account website. After reading through the post and trying the suggestions it still does not work. Just wondering how your situation turned out?

Verizon does not block websites! The issue is most likely due to routing issues many people have been reporting as of recent.
