It's common for a lot of sites to not respond to ping. These trace all the way to China and that's about where it stops showing further points. Outside of that, from my experience, accessing resources hosted inside of China tend to be hit or miss depending on the time of day, unless it's a university resource.

What is intersting is that I can tracert to douban.com. But it does not respond to ping
