problems creating new email sub-accounts

I've been trying for a couple of days to create a new sub-account.  I keep getting error messages to "try again later".  Anyone else having this problem or am I doing something wrong?

I just tested it and had the same issue. I am sure this will be resolved, and it may be something they are working on. Just in case I will pass it on.

You may create 9 additional Sub-Accounts for free.

I posted this trouble to some Verizon Employees, and after further research seemed to have found the issue.

When attempting to add a sub account  with a user name that is already in use or a restricted name such as verizon@verizon.net the message, Problem occurred while creating your subaccount. Please try again later occurs. It should say the user name is not available. I tried adding various sub accounts with names that I thought would be in use or restricted and they all came back with the same error message. Try adding a sub account with a different user name.

That makes sense, but I've been trying some rather esoteric ones that surely are not taken, and get the same error message.

Odd. Perhaps the Verizon people will look into it soon. I hope you get it resolved ASAP. I was able to add a sub account when selecting something I knew could not have been used, restricted, or invalid.

Having a similar problem.  I'm attempting to create a sub account.  All the info is entered and it gives me an error msg right above the security question, says  Partner has account in a locked state.  I'm logged in under the primary account, I've used a ton of different user names.  Anyone know what I could do next?

Sounds like your account is currently in migration to Yahoo!.

only gives that error for restricted names or if the name does not meet the username format criteria..... if it is a legal one and is taken already it will give you the 3 options or to pick a new one...

try a simple test to confirm/deny you are having this particular issue and not some other underlying proplem.... try to create a test account such as "Testsubcreation2" or "Fixyourerrormessages" or just "Bob514"... If you get the same error with those types, then contact support and have them escalate your issue, as your account could possibly have an internal issue that needs to be resolved.

Best of luck with the issue and best of luck to Verizon on actually correcting that error message..... there was another error message FOREVER that had Verizon spelled Verison.....

Don't forget the basics:  You must be in the primary verizon user ID account to create sub accounts

I am, and was able to duplicate the error message many times. But when picking a unique valid user name, I had no problems. Just found the error message needs a better description, when attempting to add a sub account to test for the OP.

This error is usually related specifically to the username you are attempting to use, but it can occasionally be cause by something else.

Do you have a portal partner?

If you do, it is possible that your partner status is in "error" - this can cause the error you are seeing. This can be checked by any of Verizon's tech support agents.

Also, because I have been unable to find detailed information posted anywhere, here is the information I have gathered regarding all of the fields:

1. The username must be between 6-32 alphanumeric characters, including periods and underscores. The username cannot begin or end with special characters. The username may contain up to two special characters.  Special characters may NOT be next to each other or separated by only one character. Usernames may not start with a number.
2. First and Last name must be filled in. (Seems obvious, but I'm trying to cover everything.)
3. DOB must show over 18 for successful sub account creation.
4. Must choose gender.
5. Zipcode must be the same as primary account.
6. Password must be between 6 to 16 characters long, is case sensitive and must have at least 1 number or letter. Passwords must NOT "look" like: your first or last name (as Verizon has it in their system) or the username or vzuid. Passwords can NOT be simple (password1, abc123, etc.) Password should be different from the Primary account's password.
7. You must choose and answer a Secret Question. The answer to the secret question must be at least 5 characters. The answer to the secret question must be different from the password.

Hope this helps! If following those doesn't fix it, call tech support. They have access to see if there is anything wrong with your account from the back end.

Verizon provides an easy to use tool - In Home Agent - to do this for you seamlessly. You can download the tool from http://www.verizon.com/connect

Once downloaded and installed, just go to the Internet section, then "Email Help" and then "Create an Additional Account". Hopefully this helps.
