BeIn sports will be added to the fios guide on monday where customers who have the ultimate hd package will have it there available for them to watch as part of the package. For people who have the spanish package they will be receiving the second BeIn sports channel in spanish. There is a third BeIn sports channel in french but no american tv provider has it and it is only available in europe. If you do not have the ultimate hd package you have to get the sports package to get BeIn sports. The channels are not like the gol tv channels which carry the same exact games where the difference is that one channel calls the game in english and the other calls the game in spanish. The BeIn sports channels are different in the games they broadcast with totally different lineups and if you want an idea of what they have to offer then check out their website that has the listings for soccer games, tennis matches, rugby matches, boxing, golf, volleyball, basketball and motorcycle races where BeIn is currently negotiating the additions of more sports programming to be added to their channels. If you want to confirm this call verizon's billing department as they are now telling everyone that BeIn is set to be added on monday so that they can get people to upgrade to the hd lineup or at least add the sports package. Now it will be interesting to see if verizon is going to go the route of other providers where they too might end up dropping gol tv like comcast and directv did. Redbox instant just launched too. It is $6 to stream movies onlines, $8 to stream and you will also get 4 dvd codes to rent at a kiosk or $9 if you want to stream online and rent 4 blue ray dvds with 4 codes. Another interesting thing that has happened is that direct tv has announced they will not be renewing their contract for the the nfl ticket so it will be up for grabs for whoever wants it. Now everyone is saying that comcast is going to do everything they can to add it with time warner also a possibility but if verizon wants to add a lot of customers then they better start planning right now to make their move to add the nfl ticket. I find it to be very interesting that all customers are set to get a price increase on tuesday the day after BeIn sports is added to the guide so even if those customers who may never watch the channel will never know it they are in fact in their own way paying for the addition of BeIn sports. Now as a reminder i will say that i was the first one to mention that verizon would be adding BeIn sports to their lineup where verizon did something that they would normally not do which is to actually admit that what i said was true a month after i had revealed that info on here. It will be interesting to see if anyone even remembers that or would i have to bring back that thread from august to prove a point that my info was correct? Pac 12 network HD is also on the way too.

I have been hearing for years that verizon was going to be adding a ton of new hd channels and as many people already know that never really happens. Now i have heard the rumor too but from what i know the rumored 40 hd channels does not seem to true at the moment. There is more hd in the works where i heard headline news hd is one of them. I will let people know when i find out more but a lot of what i have seen that is on the list included things that i have mentioned on here before. Sony movie channel hd, 2 .tv channels, 2 BeIn sports in hd channels, Pac 12 hd, msg plus 2 hd, the tv guide channel hd for those who do not have it and there will be some more on demand hd. As for the release of the pac 12 network it will happen before the summer. Now i want to caution people about some of these channels additions that when verizon adds them they have a history of rolling things out in a very slow way. I just mentioned that in the share you ideas section on here because i know it is going to happen with some of these up and coming channels. People in texas for example got the tv guide network in hd last fall i believe and for people in ny/nj they have yet to get it even though verizon's own website has it listed there. The big change that verizon is trying to work on although very few people know about this is that verizon is considering changing their guide provider because they are quite frankly fed up with all of the complaints where they too see all of the errors and bad outdated guide data that is on there. They are currently using a second source to try to make sure it is accurate and were considering a third source but rather than go that route they instead are looking to change their guide provider for next year. If they were to make that change then you would see an announcement made about it at the end of this year. Next up is also the 6 tuner media dvr where that expected launch date is summer and no later than this fall. Delays do happen so you can not definitively say a date on here unless it is a week before anything is set to launch. Now i am not sure if the pac 12 network hd deal will be strictly on the west coast or if it will made available for everyone like comcast has it because when i mentioned on here in my "verizon settles with active video' thread that i started back in august i included that the lakers channel would be added where it was inevitably added in the final week of october. You can check that august thread to confirm that i did say it well before it was added.

I forgot to mention that retirement living (channel 245) is also on the way in hd. So that is at least a dozen channels maybe even more depending on the hd on demand that is on its way that will be added. Now what would really surprise me were if there were to be even more .tv channels added to the fios guide beyond those 2 that will be added because of the byron allen contract deal with verizon. If another 8 more .tv channels popped up out of nowhere then that would be real disappointing to many of verizon's customers. With the planned six media tuner dvr and the additions of BeIn and the up and coming pac 12 network the verizon strategy is obvious by now. Since they can pretty much match what all of the cable companies can offer they are now trying to match their only other real competitor which is directv. If verizon were to get the nfl ticket that would be a huge move and a big blow to directv where their customers would switch to fios if it was in their area. Directv has a five media tuner dvr while verizon will have one that will be a six tuner one which will allow them to match what dish nettwork has to offer. Dish network advertises that they have a six tuner dvr but from what i understand it really is not entirely true. How it is set up on dish is that if you want to tape six shows at once four of those channels have to be broadcast newtorks then you can tape two additonal ones. It is not that you can tape any six channels at once you must tape nbc, abc, cbs or any primetime network to do the six at a time thing. Now advantages that dish might have had were the six tuner dvrs, BeIn sports, pac 12 network verizon will be able to offer all of those things in the next few months. Dish just dropped a bunch of spanish channels at the end of last year like canal sur which is going to cost them a lot of spanish speaking customers so they will be looking for a new tv provider and as everyone already knows they do not carry regional sports networks. So if you are in the boston area there is no NESN or if you are in new york or new jersey area there is no MSG, YES, SNY if you have dish. If verizon were to add the nfl ticket while also adding more hd plus adding more to their spanish package that would include 24/7 channels from countries like peru or venezuela they would at the very least double quite possibly triple their current customer base. The only problem that could arise from that would be the comcast universal deal where comcast now owns a lot of the channels that appear on most tv provider's guides. So if verizon were to add more customers then comcast would simply raise the price for channels like nbc, msnbc, usa, bravo, telemundo and other channels to try to stick it to their competition. Google fiber is learning that lesson right now as time warner who owns a lot of the content in that area is doing what they can to try to prevent google fiber from adding customers.

Thanks for the info. What you mentioned about Comcast and DirecTV possibly getting the NFL Sunday Ticket probably means that the package would be picked up by iNDemand, which is owned by the big cable companies. What this means for Verizon cutomers is that the Sunday Ticket would be available to us just like the NHL, MLB, NBA, and MLS. DirecTV would probably keep their own package, only without exclusivity. This is all still up in the air, plus DirecTV still has two more years of exclusivity for the package. There have simply been rumblings that DirecTV is no longer willing to pay the inflated price they've been paying for years so no one else can have it.

I received an email from verizon today saying that in april they will be dropping G4 and adding esquire tv on channel 191? not sure of channel number or if the new channel will be in HD. BTW will verizon have all the nba league pass channels in HD and dual feeds like directv next year?

Just so we're clear, Verizon isn't dropping G4 - G4 is going away. It is no more. It's being converted into the Esquire Channel. It's not a matter of Verizon dropping one for the other. So before people start a million threads whining about "Why is Verizon dropping G4?!" I hope they know the facts.

Monday is coming to an end and I don't see Bein Sport anywhere in the Verizon channel lineup. From the very begining (september 2012) Verizon has managed this issue in very unprofessional way. Customer service or reaching out to the customer has no meaning to Verizon.

Unitl Verizon "offcially" announces the channels are being added, and they haven't, don't sit around waiting for them to appear. And when they do add them it will be a staged roll-out, i.e. one VH at a time. So you may not get it right away.

Not sure what you are talking about. Bein sports has been added to the guide at channels 598 and channel 1538. The 598 channel is in english while the one that is on 1538 is in spanish. The games that are on are italian serie ac milan vs us citta di palermo on the english one while the spanish one has fc barcelona vs rayo vallecano. The channels are in hd and in order to have access to them both you must have both the ultimate hd package and the spanish package. Channel 598 is where mav tv in hd used to be on the guide so BeIn usa (which is in english) took the spot of that channel while 1538 BeIn Espanol is in a new channel area that is right after a couple of other soccer channels that sometimes show other sports too and they are channels 1535 aym sports and tyc sports channel 1536. The one that is in spanish is in hd for those who are curious about where it is listed on he guide. It is sort of like channel 1516 multimedios which is in hd even though there is a sd version of it on channel 1511. If you do not have the channel within the next 24-48 hours or say by the end of wednesday then you can bring it to verizon's attention although i believe that everyone should have the channels assuming that they have the ulitmate hd and the spanish package. With the up and coming hd channels that verizon is planning to add it is pretty obvious that verizon is trying to get all of their customers to upgrade to the the ultimate hd package which would pretty much give fios customers everything that verizon has to offer except for international packages which have to be paid for seperately. if you have waited this long then just give it to wednesday and if it has not been added by this time two days from now then i expect soccer fans will be raising their voices about it. Now we will see if gol tv or any other soccer channel is going to get dropped as a result of the addition of BeIn sports. Verizon can either add the hd feed for gol tv or they can drop the channel. My guess is (and it is just a guess) that gol tv will at some point be dropped because if verizon never added the gol tv hd feed when there were a lot of good games to watch on there then they are not going to add it in hd now because they lost the rights to broadcast a lot of the best teams in the world.
