I was just told by your Verizon chat agent that if I buy a used Verizon tuner from ebay, you will activate it on my account and I would not have to pay a monthly hardware rental fee to use it. Is this correct?
I saved the chat session where he says that since my experience is that each person you talk to at Verizon to gives a totally different answer.

I'm not sure about tuners, but Verizon never used to acitvate equipment such as DVR's/STB's purchased on ebay at all. I do know some who have been able to, but a monthly fee still applied.
I don't know if the rules changed since I last knew about them.
I also can't say for sure about just tuners. Hopefully someone else on here can confirm if you'll still get charged a monthly fee or not.

Verizon only leases STBs if you bought a STB from Ebay I do not think they would activate it and if they did I;m sure they would charge you a monthly fee and want the STB back when you cancel service. I would not take the chance.

Any Verizon STBs you buy off eBay they consider stolen.
Verizon never sells them to anyone.
So the only way you can have one is if it was never returned.
I know some people claim to ahve gotten them when a tenant moves out for example.
They still belong to Verizon.
