I just read a message on my screen that you are removing decades for Start TV. Why!! I love the old shows they show especially on weekends. We pay so much and keep getting things either dropped or replaced. I just recently chatted with one of the representatives and they informed me that we are loosing Cinemax, and we were being given Stars in its place.

Verizon has no control over this.
Your local channel that carries Decades (it is not a cable channel but a sub-channel to a local station) is replacing it.

So, why can't Fios pick it up from another source outside of NY? The ME-TV affiliate is in Middletown, NJ. I really like Decades and have no interest in this new channel.

Which locals they can pickup is strictly controlled, again outside of their control. If this particular "channel" moved to one that you do get included in your locals, it may well be added in a few months. Requires time to negotiate and setup a different feed.

Completely agree. Being in NJ myself I see no valid excuse for Verizon to allow this to happen. regardless of what they claim. Verizon is capable of excising if not control, certainly some influence over a broadcasters content.

I agree! I'm NOT happy that we're losing Decades--love all the old programs!! I hope that Verizon will be able to pick this station up again through another source...their programming offers a nice reminder of the civility of old days during these troubling times.

What sense does it make to change a channel which brings back programming from the distant past (DECADES) which is tremendously entertaining and HISTORIC in that it allows young viewers to witness the roots of television, for another CBS drama channel which can be gotten ON DEMAND, or CBS.com? One of the things I loved about FIOS was the variety available...sadly, that is becoming less and less...and it is creating a great motivation to start streaming video online! Eventually, logic dictates FIOS will no longer be necessary...the internet and smart tvs, with the propagation of programming from the likes of Amazon, HULU, NetFLIX et al, will put Verizon FIOS out of business. Please think it through Verizon!

Again, Verizon has no control over this.
The channel provider is the one making the change, not Verizon.

This is why I will be leaving Fios once my current contract expires in 12 months and switching to DirectTV NOW because It's obvious that Verizon doesn't care about what like to watch anymore. I would switch now but I don't believe I can or I would switch to DirectTV NOW. Verizon simply has no respect for us. They constantly continue to drop channels that we like to watch and frankly I'm just sick of It. But wait they get to raise our cable bill whenever they feel like to. How is this fair to us?

I moved from MA to RI this past year. In MA, I had Xfinity/Comcast which included the cable TV station “Decades,” which was awesome! Please Verizon, pick up this station!

ouple of comments:
1) Decades is a local sub channel. So if there is not a local channel in your area that carries it, Verizon won't either. It is not a national channel
2) Verizon has posted a note that a lot of the stations that carry Decades are converting to a new channel that carries old CBS programming.

KEEP DECADES! START TV is like way too many other channels running the same, tired "procedural" dramas. 3-4 hours of the same show is a bit much. There's not enough variety. DECADES was starting to get to be too redundant-the ED SULLIVAN CLIP SHOW is mundane, unlike the original ED SULLIVAN programs, however, I still like DECADES.

You will have to contact the channel owner.
They are the one who is replacing the content.
Verizon has no control.

How could you drop Decades? Between Dick Cavett, Ed Sullivan, Bob Newhart, there is nothing else like it. Please bring it back!

Why is Decades no longer available? The new network has boring shows. No more weekend binge? This was a really bad decision. Fios can get it back if they really wanted to. We pay a lot of money & aren't able to watch what we want

I agree, DECADES was/is a great station! I hope that FIOS gets it back. The replacemt staion, I haven't found any shows of interest, so I haven't seen any of the new stations commercials either. Maybe the advertisers should contact FIOS.

Everyone should lobby FIOS to pick up a channel named Decades. You can learn more at decades.com. Great channel! Has all of the Ed Sullivan shows. It is all shows from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

Issue is that it is not a nationally broadcast channel (like Discovery, HGTV, etc).
It is sold as a sub channel to your local TV broadcast stations.
So you would need to lobby your local TV stations to carry it.
Then they would have to negotiate with Verizon to pick it up.
