Dropped Fox tv

I'm very upset that not only did Verizon FiOS drop the Fox tv network but that there was never any warning for this other than from 2015 and that issue was settled and Verizon kept the network. We were warned of 2 other networks that were to be dropped by December 31st 2016 but not one of them was the Fox tv network

Where are you located?

Have you gone to station website?

Its not across all areas, so specific to yours.

Verizon,  get this fixed.  Work it out with Fox,  508 and 507, syracuse ny.  We pay enough money to you, so every day we do not have this channel, I want a refund. Get it worked out!

This is a peer to peer support forum.

It is an ongoing battle between content providers and the distribution companies.

And the customer is the one that always loses out.

We never know what the original rate was or what they are asking for.

What the content providers believe to be a small increase, could be large to distribution companies.

They could be asking for something as small as .25. But suppose everyone one of the hundreds of channels asked for similar raises. They could add more than $25 to our bill each month. And because Verizon has so many of us under contract, they have to eat the cost increases. Imagine the outrage for people that are renewing and they get hit with a large increase.

This is not unique to Verizon. My local NBC station has had a notice they are negotiating with DirecTV for a price increase and those customers could lose that channel.

Sorry, but posts like this make me shake my head. You're complaining you pay too much now but you do realize that by Verizon giving in you are going to pay even MORE!!!  FOX wants YOU, NCOMSTOCK to pay MORE for it's programming. I hope you're complaining to FOX as well.

Every company goes through this. I hope you're going to be happy paying MORE because in the end that is the only thing that is going to happen. FOX wants more money per subscriber, and that cost is always pass on to us, the consumer.

Bristlecone did  this several years ago, same time before games, & a show final season. Using these to get  $$.  There are other ways to watch this network.  Thank you Verizon, for working for your customers!

So Verizon should just pay whatever the content providers want to charge?

Won't people them be complaining to Verizon for raising prices?

Verizon has raised my rates every year, and I have only been with them for 3 years. Am done after this. Went from $99 to $164 in less then 3 years. Now paying for something we don't get?? DONE!

From what I have heard others say, you can have the same experience with other service providers.

Have you called to see if they can give you any more discounts?

You typically can't get as good a deal as a new customer, but if you are just month to month, a contract will typically provide some savings.

I pay a ton for my FiOS.  Not having FOX will ruin or cancel my annual Superbowl party.  How about, to keep customers like me happy, Verizon buys us antennas so we can pick up FOX?  In my area, I need an extended distance antenna to receive the channel.  Credit me $75 for the purshase and I'll stop complaining!  It would still be inconvenient, but it would be something.

Are you complaining to your fox station as well?

These disputes usually come about because content provider asks for a raise in fe.

And cable provider doesn't want to pay it.

They both have an idea as to what each considers reasonable.

Are you willing to pay more if Verizon has to pay more?

These costs get passed along to customers.

You complain you pay a ton (I do agree we all do) but you do realize that FOX wants you to pay even MORE don't you!?!?!? You can't have your cake and eat it too, either you accept paying "a ton" or you start pushing back against the FOX's of the world. Why should verizon buy you an antenna, FOX should. I certainly hope you are complaining to FOX about what THEY are doing. They want you to pay even more, if you do not like it, say something TO THEM.

This is becoming ridiculous. I understand Verizon is refusing to pay Bristlecone for their rate hike and that this is a dispute between them. I appreciated that Verizon is doing this in an attempt to keep prices low. However, as paying Verizon customers, we're expecting a service to be provided and right now those expectations aren't being met. Verizon should be providing a temporary solution until this is resolved. While some argue that this is only "local Fox broadcasting", this is also the programming bringing us the NFL playoffs at the biggest time of the year. The only reason I continue to pay for cable is for sports.

I had to go out and buy an HD antenna to watch the NFL games because of this, and right now I'm pretty happy with the OTA broadcasting. It's getting me one step closer to cutting the cable.

You have no expectations for Fox to provide their part of the bargain?

Typically it is the content provider that pulls the service not the provider.

Not sure who did what in this case, but both sides are at fault.

Yet people tend to only blame the service provider not the content provider.

Bristlecom and Verizon can not agree on terms for use. I suggest change local 8 to NYC Fox station. This will give NYC news plus sports coverage. Activities in NYC do effect us in many ways.

Unfortunately, FCC determines which stations are primary in an area.

So Verizon can't just pick another station.

I sure hope that this is resolved before the Super bowl, or you may lose customers to Dish, Time Warner, etc...

This is just a quick note of frustration to Verizon FIOS in the Syracuse, New York area for ruining the ending of the NFL Season for all of us by pulling FOX Sports programming on January 1st. This was done just in time for the play-offs, so thank you very much FIOS. No wonder there are so many happy Time-Warner Cable folks in my neighborhood. I'll be one soon too.

Does Verizon realize that the Super Bowl is on FOX?  **bleep**?
