While watching TV the program volume will start to fade to almost inaudible and then gradually increase back to normal levels. A few minutes may pass and then the cycle repeats. My setup has a master STB in one room and a "satellite" STB (much smaller) in another room. This problem occurs on both TVs. It is not restricted to any specfic channel or content. This is a fairly recent development, say within the last 2 weeks. What's going on?

Are they set for fixed or variable?
