New Hd Coming. Univision Telenovelas Added. BeIn Sports To Buy The Tennis Channel?

Verizon is set to add more hd programming that will be in spanish where almost all of it will be channels that are all from mexico. Several of them will be from that deal that verizon made with a company that is responsible for all of those ultra hd channels that are on the guide like ultra mexico and ultra fiesta where ultra tainment is one of the new ones that is on the way. There are also more channels from mexico on the way like foro tv a 24/7 news channel and america teve which will be added at channel 479. There are some other televisa (who owns univision, galavision, unimas) owned channels that will be added too. Verizon just added univision telenovelas to the guide at channel 1584 although no one will know it unless they are reading this because the logo is not there so the listing on the guide as of right now is blank. The channel consists of old soap operas from years ago and is like exitos tv (a telemundo owned channel) where that channel exitos tv is listed at channel 464. Now before people start taping things off the channel make sure that the information that is on the guide actually matches what is playing. There are channels whose guide information does not match what is playing where many of them have been off by several hours for years or are stuck with old guide data descriptions. Channel 477 tvc + latino is off by 3 hours where what is playing right now is what the guide had listed on there 3 hours ago. Channels 1509 and 1548 are off by an hour where what is playing now is what the guide said was on an hour ago. Even the description for nightline on abc at 12:37am has had the same description for a while now even though what is listed there was a program from a long time ago. As i said before in a previous post about Bein sports it is looking to add more sports to their lineup where they are seeking to add the tennis channel and also the golf channel among other sports channels who they are negotiating with. Al jazeera (who owns bein and is based in quatar) is little by little doing everything that they can to become a major player in trying to acquire the news and sports channels that american tv viewers watch. The move by a foreign company to acquire american channels should not come as a surprise since a saudi prince owns a portion of the fox news channel where he has often been accused of seeing to it that stories about what go on in saudi arabia never make it to the air. Another thing that is on the way is that the fios six tuner dvr is scheduled to be made available this fall although it remains to be seen if it will be made available to everyone or if it will depend on what region you live in where many people in the country may not have it available to them until early next year just like verizon often does with their very slow rollouts of new channels or a new guide release.

NONE of this is going to happen anytime soon. Verizon has delayed the roll-out of the MPEG-4 thing until later this year now. The reason they have a shortage of 7XXX STBs. Until Verizon switches a number of HD channels to MPEG-4 you aren't getting any more HD channel additions.

I hate to say this but this has become typical of Verizon, failure to deliver once again.

Is this verified, or just speculation? "On or after April 15" is pretty open ended, so not converting the channels the first week isn't too concerning. With the pace Verizon does things, I would have been very surprised to see it happen even before now.

It's what I read over in the Dslreports forum, people were trying to upgrade their 6XXX STB's and were told they couldn't because they don't have enough 7XXX boxes.

Here is a quote from one of the posters over there: (posted 4/22)

"Just found out from Verizon that they aren't doing the MPEG-4 thing until later this year now and that is why I haven't received my box yet. So basically, whenever they decide to push that again, that is when I'm supposed to get my box. Figures, after all of that."

And another post from a different person there: (posted 4/23)

"I did not know this myself and was told last night that it was placed on hold due to lack of supply and that it would continue in the next 4 months."
