So there is no way to get program guide info on my STB unless I have a Verizon router connected to both WAN and COAX (via a block) from ONT. Correct?
What if I don't have Fios (Verizon) internet and hence do not have a Verizon router. There must be a way to get program info w/o a router?
MY SCENARIO
Lightning strike fries LANCE CHIP (controlling 4 ether net RJ45 ports). Wireless works fine but no hardwired ports. Replace the Quantum router with a MESH network for better whole house coverage. No COAX port on the mesh router because....well it's not necessary. No changes to STB's or COAX cabling. Now all STB's report "no data connectivity" and no program info available.
It does not make sense there is no way to get data without a Fios router.
Can anyone supply a solution?
Thanks for listening.

Incorrect. The coax from the ONT is needed for linear TV signals. This is a must, but wasn't your question. To get program guide, the STBs need an Internet connection. The only way for the main boxes to get an Internet connection is through MoCA over coax. So a MoCA Ethernet bridge is fine for this purpose. You can get a goCoax WF-803M for around $65.
