I have an older Motorola Model: /A386/014/500QIP7232 DDVR box.
I'd like to remove the hard drive and connect it to my computer to export the movies. Does anyone know if this is possible? As far as I can research I think it's just a regular SATA spinning (HDD) hard drive. So, connecting to that is no problem. The real question is, are the movies stored in any reasonable format that is useful or are they stored in some strange proprietary format that would be virtually impossible to convert or use?
I'm appreciate any information from someone who has removed the hard drive and tried to copy the videos from it.
Many Thanks!

I doubt this is possible, as the set-tops should be encrypting all content with a private key stored deep within their DRM system.
