VMS100 can’t detect coax

I’m trying to do a self install replacing my QIP7100 set top box with a VMS100 STB. It *should* be a simple plug and play replacement, but the when I start the VMS100, it says coax not detected. The coax cable is connected properly on the VMS100 and works just fine when I switch it back to the old QIP7100 STB. I have no other TVs. I do have a coax splitter that connects to my Fios router which continues to work just fine regardless of which STB is plugged in. Why doesn’t this work? Does a technician need to make some change on the ONT to get signal to work with the VMS100, and if so, then why is self install even an option? This should be simple and it’s not.

I was able to fix this by keeping the coax hooked up between my router and VMS, rebooting the router, and then rebooting the VMS.

Can you hook the VMS 1100 up to any other coax in the house? Is it possible the new box is defective? Here are the install docs for that box, maybe the answer is in there.
