1.6.2 Software Update Introduced New Issues

I live in Palmetto, Fl. and Verizon recently released the 1.6.2 software update.  When are you going to get it right?  Is the software even tested before it is released?  I have two of the 6416 DVRS.  There are two issues that started after the update which I consider to be major and Verizon needs to address the issues immediately.  When you channel surf and select a channel to watch the info banner appears on the screen.  It stays there for about 5 seconds and disappears as it should.  Out of no where the info banner will appear on the screen again and it just displays continiously.  If you press the exit button the banner disappears only to return again.  The work around for this is to press the exit button twice and this prevents the banner from appearing again.  I own two plasma televisions.  This constant banner display is a real problem especially if you step away from the tv for an extended period of time and return only to find the banner displaying on the screen.  This can cause image retention and/or burn in on plasma tvs.  Verizon-I hope you are reading this post and plan on fixing this problem immediately.  I have already gone through tech support and had the boxes reset, etc.  I also had a technician come out and replace the boxes with the 7216 series and they have the exact same issue.  The other issue that occurs on both boxes is when you search for a show that is playing the same day and select to record it the box starts recording the current show on the channel and doesn't setup the recording you selected.  The work around for this is to select the show in the guide and press record.  Then the show is setup for recording under view schedule.  While Fios probably has the best HD picture of any service, the DVR issues make you think twice about keeping this service.  It is crucial when any update is to be released that it is thoroughly tested.  Your organization needs to take a different approach when it comes to releasing updates.

Does any one else just hate the on screen guide? Why does the info tag have to appear right in the center of the channel listing? Why can't the channel listing be just that a listing except when I want to view the info on a particular program of my choosing, Not for a station that just happens to have landed in the center of the screen. This is very distracting. Please let me decide which channels I want to view the info on. Come on Verizon the people have spoken show us some service outside of your business model.

I too have seen that Info Bar bug that pops up and never goes away, it's only happened twice though luckily, but there is a problem there. Are there any certain channels it happens to you on? Do you notice any pattern? I've gotten it to go away by chaning the channel and then going back, thanks for the Exit twice remedy though.

It happens on any channel.  I think I may have figured out the pattern.  When I switch channels I usually press the exit button to remove the info banner from the screen.  It seems that after I do that the banner will reappear on the screen and then I have to press the exit button twice to clear it.  I will continue to experiment though to confirm this pattern.  Also the recording issue seems to have cleared up on it's own.
