Addition of channels 1498 and 1499 and future programming down the road

I recently watched my first tome 4K broadcast Friday evening. Big deal only an NCAA basketball game. But what an eye-popper! Now I see where this weekend NFC and AFC championship games will not be aired in 4K, only "The Big Game" which is done by FOX. I totally understand from a technical point of view the reasons why CBS, on one hand, has never done a 4K broadcast and the required additional infrastructure in the facility wiring and additional. Now, on one hand, Verizon is trying to keep its cable base. On one side it is estimated only 10% of TV watches own a 4K compatible TV. Not sure I believe this! Anyway, will the level of 4K broadcasts get increased as we move forward?  IMHO this looks like a great way for all cable providers to start working with broadcasters to increase 4K broadcasts. You have a lot of dead-air time on 1498 & 1499. So what is going to take place???  Thanks in advance. Dan in Glen Allen, VA   RVA!!

You are talking to other customers here.

It is a bit if chicken and egg. There are still a number of non 4K TVs out there (not to mention STBs). And the cable companies to not have a lot of bandwidth to add a lot of 4K content.  There is a large amount of legacy programming that is not in 4K. And the cost to invest in 4K recording equipment would be large (remember how long it took for linear programming to go to HD?).

All of this could lead for it to be a while before there is a large amount of 4K programming IMHO.
