Upon seeing the new menu on Verizon my first thought was "why does Verizon feel the need to copy Comcast?". I would think people who have Fios do not want anything that reminds them of Comcast.
2nd thought on trying to use the new set up - just plain hard on my eyes and more difficult for my brain to focus.
My boyfriend asked "don't they test these things before they go live?".
The recent changes do not make for cohesive enjoyable viewing. I also do not need suggestions of other tv shows to watch. Thanks but no thanks.
I use to think Fios was superior to all, that if i moved i would only relocate to areas that have Fios. No so anymore. More than ever now, willing to give another company a shot.
Very very disapointed at whomever approves these changes at Fios.

Since I now have Quantum STB's, I haven't see this, Yet. But over history every change that Verizon has made to the menu's has HAD people saying they are terrible, hard to read, etc. Sometimes at the same times others are praising the changes.

yes, agree that some will like the changes, but if you go by the responses posted here, it is overwhelming negative towards the new changes. As many have mentioned Verizon would have gone in a better direction had they allowed people to pick either their own colors OR be allowed to stay in the pervious mode. They have also added additional steps for some items. Hitting an A button now when OK was OK. One has to stumble around to locate the A button , while OK is at your fingertips. The changes are not terribly user friendly.

Posts here alone are unlikely to effect any future development. Few Verizon people will ever see them.

Thanks for mentioning this - we located the disable for a few of the items shown on the screen. Found under settings, notifications. It did help to clean up the screen a bit.

Could not agree more. Horrible, awful, and completely unnecessary.
The suggestions, none of which I have found helpful or of interest, are so large as to make searching next to impossible. I don't know how large the TV set needs to be in order for the new screens to be helpful, but I certainly don't own one.
Right on target with the difficulty trying to read the screen. The red bar on the right is barely perceptible.
Can we at least have the choice of "Traditional OSG" and "New Fangled OSG?" Vz was smart enough to allow us to disable the useless "home screen." Perhaps they'll be so kind as to make the option available for the guide.

This new guide is horrible! I cannot believe that anyone can view it without squinting or looking away every few seconds. Hard to read - colors are distracting - mkes my head hurt!

Just joining in saying how much this new guide sucks!!! Colors are BAD and the DVR guide is now horrible!!! And like someone else said - I don't need any recommendations, and honestly your recommendations usually have absolutely nothing to do with what I was watching. I think Sons of Anarchy resulted in a recommendation of several news shows!
Please get rid of this monstrosity and quick fixing what isn't broke and instead focus on fixing what is broke!!

I have to congratulate the team that created these new menus; you have created an electronic Edsel! Did anyone look at what was created? Were there any consumer tests made? Obviously no one gathered any user feedback or paid attention to what was said. The guide is now unreadable. Between the small fonts and the poor contrast, it is almost useless. The value of a remote control is that changes to the TV can be made without getting up. Now, thanks to your innovative menu, I am forced to pick up my remote and walk over to the TV in order to read the guide. I regret my recent decision to renew my contract; I’m calling Cablevision. At least I can read the menu to use what I am paying for

It is time for me to renew my contract and I am not going to do that untill I am happy with the menu on my DVR! Thank you {edited for privacy}pooh4591

The new menu is terrible, the old scheme was much better. The black background and smaller letters make it hard on the eyes and difficult to read. If ti is not soon changed back I will change to another provider.

My wife and I couldn't agree with you more. The new menu is terrible for all the reasons that you mention. Who at FIOS thought this was a better menu? That person must have Cablevision!
According to the email Verizon sent out, it was customers like us that requested the menu be enhanced. I don't think so. Nobody asked me. If Verizon's 1990's website had an 'Contact Us' email link, I'd let them know what I think.

I'm in northern Virginia and got the upgrade the other night. I don't have much of a problem with it at all. I like it better than the old guide. The fonts are just a bit smaller but not much. My wife said the same thing and likes it. Maybe as we use it more I may have some troubles but after a couple of days I don't have much complaints at all.

Actually lots of people saying, that except for some new bugs, they like the look of the new menu. Mostly on the forums you hear from those who don't like something.

I've been away for a few days and returned to find the Channel Guide and DVR Menus changed. Definitely, NOT GOOD! Can't think of any other way to describe than HORRIBLE! Just called Customer Service, escalated to supervisor, they are receiving thousands and thousands of complaints. I was told they may make some changes or tweaks to the new update but will not be going back or restoring back to what we had before which was basically perfect. New update not an improvement. If they don't tweak it, bring back the old software or give us option of old software, we'll be closing our account and moving on.......sorry to say. THIS NEW UPDATE IS JUST AWFUL AND WHOEVER MADE THIS BRILLIANT DECISION SHOULD BE FIRED! I'm giving them 30 days to make this right.

I did the same and the supervisor said the same thing.
I stopped all notifications and it does look cleaner, but it does not solve the readability issue.
I think an easier solution would be a compromise i.e. give us an option to view 4 lines instead of 6, with a bigger font to be able to read it.
I would go for this because it is an easier (programmatically) to do than redo the entire menu routine.
Furthermore, we the users. need to keep adding our comments and voice our disatisfaction with this issue until Verizon does something about it. Keep on calling and posting folks.
I am up for renewal in March; if this is not solved to my satisfaction by then, I too will be jumping eswhere.
Lets speak out with our pocketbook people!!!
