I received my edition of Verizon spotlight yesterday and was quite excited to see that History on demand "Hatfields & McCoys" is supposed to be able to be viewed all summer long FREE!!!
Much to my disappointment, I went to the on demand button on my remote and looked for the program under Free and History channel, nothing listed. Went to search and for the program and it is listed there but for $4.99. What's the deal??? Free or not free, it's listed under the Fios summer freebies section of Verizon Spotlight.
False advertising?? or am I not doing something I should be?

I just posted a message very similar to yours indicating that despite an ad in the July/August Verizon Spot-Lite magazine claiming that the History Channel series "Hatfields & McCoys" would be available on demand all summer, it is not available at all on demand. The movie "Hatfields & McCoys, Bad Blood" is available on demand for $4.99 rental fee. It is important that you know that this is not the History Channel series, but a completely different movie on the same subject.

I totally agree, spent quite a bit of time searching for it and even called Verizon, the agent just told me if I can't find it, it's not there. Just not right, Verizon needs to get this on-demond

I posted a message about this problem on Verizon's facebook page. They acknowledge that there is a problem and there is supposed to be somebody looking into it. Confidence is high!

Hi,
Sorry but the History Channel has pulled this show off of Video on Demand. We have requested that they put this back on but we do not have control of what they have On Demand.
Thanks,
Frank_VZ

Sorry Frank, that is not an acceptable answer. I again will refer you to page 7 of the JUL/AUG 2012 Verizon Spot Light Magazine, where it says, and I quote "Watch Hatfields & McCoys free on demand! Watch Hatfields & McCoys free all summer long with FIOS on demand!". There must have been some kind of agreement between The History Channel and your organization in order for this offer to be printed in the magazine this way. I encourage you to kick this issue up a few more levels and see what shakes out. In the meantime I will be getting in touch with The History Channel and see what their take on this is. Where I come from when something is put in writing it means something and based on that, I think Verizon needs to figure out a way to make this happen.

Still nothing on demand. Very dissappointing verizon does not follow through with what it promises. How are we supposed to have confidence in a company when it backtracks on its word? This kind of deception and blatant disrespect for customers is why I left comcast.

While Verizon is guilty of a lot of anti-consumer things, they don't have control over what History chooses to provide OnDemand. I think HATFIELDS was intended to be provided. But History probably pukked it because they decided to release it on Blu-Ray and DVD...and free acess via OnDemand would probably cut into disc sales.

The Hatfields and McCoys is back! On the dates August 16-19 the History Channel will air all three episodes at various times on those dates in SD and HD.
