Audio and Video sync issues

We recently got a new set top box (Arris VMS4100).  I have noticed that after watching for a while, the audio goes out of sync with the video (audio lags behind video).  Turning the VMS off and back on fixes it for a while, but eventually it goes out of sync again.  I have seen older (2 years old) threads describing the exact same issue, but never with a solution other than power cycling the STB.  Is there some sort of setting that needs to be changed on either the STB or the TV? Is there a software patch that needs to be applied? Anything?  Thank you.
