The banner stays on for 8 seconds. With my old set top box, I could change it to 2 , 4, or 6 seconds. If the new set top box has this option, I can't find it. (The previous discussion here on this topic was more than a decade ago, and the solution offered then is not an option any more.)

Simply go to Guide > Settings > Channel info bar timeout.  Make it 2 seconds.
