My husband is going nuts because he can't pause live TV from his remote on his TV. thought I would ask here. thanks!

First the IPC1100 IS an OLD Verizon box. Next the IPC is a slave to the VMS box in your system. Have you tried removing power to the ENTIRE system for at least 3 minutes then powering up the router first, once stable power up the VMS box, then the IPC box. If that doesn't work, try this:
Main Menu > Customer Support > Top Support Tools > Fix Fios TV Issues
Also make sure you still have DVR service on your bill.

There is "live" and there is prerecorded "live"
You can only pause things that are pre recorded.

What model stb do you have?
you can only pause live TV if you have DVR or quantum series VMS or IPC.
and it would need to be with FiOS remote not TV remote.
