Verizon will only have cspan on HD after a certain date. This will mean getting a new set top box which will cost more. How greedy . I pay enough already.

Why do you think you have to get a new box to view an HD channel? ALL Verizon boxes ate capable of viewing HD content.

Not correct
We lost the 3 cspan channels this morning and I called in
we had standard set top boxes & we have no option to watch cspan on them
plus I have a “grandfathered” plan
so - if I upgrade to JF boxes, I will earn the privilege of losing 1/3 of my channels and raising my monthly by 60%

Go here, punch in your zip code and see if Cspan is available in the package you have. If it is and you aren't receiving it, call the billing department and get it straightened out. As I said before, all Fios boxes are capable of displaying HD video, so that shouldn't be the issue. What boxes are you currently using? What plan do you have?

There is equipment still in the field that you are unaware of- if you need me to send you pics of this standard only non hd capable box- then send me a contact so you can verify. I have spent hours on the phone/chat/email with verizon on this topic. I have had 3 supervisors guarantee that this will be a no charge/ no monthly add to keep me as a customer- yet here I am stuck

I can't help you if I don't know which boxes you have. If a supervisor says they will upgrade you for free, they have to live up to the commitment. Please post the model and the current plan here.

Wow, I didn't think Verizon supported those boxes any more! You are totally correct, SD only from that box. You should be able to get updated boxes without having to pay more than you are now. call the billing department and ask if you can trade in those boxes for at least a VMS1100 or better box at no extra cost. You could also try streaming with a Roku or similar device to your TV. That would get you HD, and Cspan.

In that case I'd keep the current boxes, and get a Roku or Firestick for each TV and add the Fios or Cspan app and watch it that way. Unfortunately either Cspan isn't broadcasting in SD any more or Fios isn't carrying it.

I got back from a couple weeks vacation yesterday and found the 3 CSPAN channels missing.
I also have old Motorola Standard Def set top boxes although I do have (somehwat oldish) HD TVs.
Poking around the channel lookup tool, it does appear they have removed CSPAN from the Standard Def tier of channels.
There's an empty house next door, so I used that address to price out what the monthly rate would be for a new customer ordering the same services I have now, except with HD boxes. It ended up being the same as what I'm paying now.
However, that pricing probably includes some time-limited discounts (it can be hard to tell).
I also have SD Tivo boxes, so that's another complication.
I don't think there's anything sinister at work, I mean, how many people really are going to go to the trouble and potentially pay any amount more to get CSPAN.
I just find it really weird that they would pull those channels from SD unless CSPAN actually isn't providing an SD feed anymore.
Thanks to OP for confirming I wasn't imagining it.
