Since the upgrade to the new guide, my DVR regularly freezes while watching a recorded show. The only way to get out of it is by turning off the DVR, then turning it back on -- note that this does not always work, and I have to do it numerous times. Please help.

I am a new customer with the new Motorola DVR. It seems like it may not be a certain DVR, but a BUG in the software. I am a convert from DirecTV and my account is only suspended. I am in my 30-day window to cancel FiOS and I am getting upset. Lets get this BUG fixed Verizon!

I am also having these issues on both my DVR's since the IMG software update. Freezes in the middle of playback of recorded shows and timeslipping. Cannot get the timeslip to start after the pause and have to restart box to continue to watch show, losing the content in the buffer. Annoying when you stop the show for a phone call and try to restart.
I have a QIP7216 and a QIP6416, both adequately ventilated. The 7216 has an external drive so it is not the internal disk overheating. Definitely software based.
Today they just announced a price increase in the DVR. Would be nice if they get the thing working properly before they decided to charge more for a faulty service.
Definitely worth VZ looking into this as it appears not to be a random issue.

I have this issue on both my DVRs. I have taken to rebooting the DVRs weekly to prevent the issue. If I do not reset the DVRs about 2 weeks later it starts hanging on playback.

Your suggestion to reboot as part of a preventive strike is a pretty good idea that I wouldn't have connected with the problem. We shouldn't have to do this; the technology should be better than this! It is so extremely frustrating isn't it? Thanks again.

Well, I have 1.9.1 on my DVR, and while watching Game of Thrones, which I recorded tonight, the program has frozen/pixilated no fewer than 4 times.
So...apparently 1.9.1 is not the fix.

That is hard to say based on one recording. Was it live or recorded?

I watched the Borgias on my DVR, recorded last night, and it, too had the pixilation, skips. Happened twice. I'll be watching, and the show will freeze, skip ahead 2-3 seconds, and when the program begins again, there is pixilation of the picture for a few seconds. Both the Borgias, and Game of Thrones, have done this. I have 1.9.1..problem occurs on playback from Showtime and HBO now.
How is this acceptable to Verizon, especially considering how much we all pay every month? Can't you people do anything right?

Could be something other than 1.9.1. Older DVR? Recommended eSATA drive used? Could be an issue with the signal?
Im not saying it is not 1.9.1 but I don't know based on the lack of details you provided.

Signal strength should not be the issue. How do I check? I see the SNR value/level, but I assumed that was for the WIFI. SNR value is 39 db. SNR level: good.
System info:
release: 1.9.1
build number: 14.47
data object version number: 34.47
platform id: Motorola QIP-7232 P2
no external hard drive being used

Everything looks good on your end. Will have to see if more people experience this.

I just got FIOS and 2 HD DVR's less than 2 months ago, and have lost several recording to this problem already.
I would be Playing something I DVR'd and at a random point, somethimes 3 minutes in, sometimes 25 minutes in, it freezes. stopping and replaying from beginning does not help, chapters never work on the recordings that freeze, I never found a way around it.
Using the on screen menu for the "anyroom dvr fix" did not help, power cycling the box did not help, attempting to watch it from another box did not help.
I ended up deleting thoes recording.
I'm paying for DVR service, I don't find this acceptable performance from Verizon as a service provider.
Suspiciously looks like the same problems when a video file stored on my computer has become corrupted, it will play up to the point the file is corrupted, then freeze, because the decoder for that coex is lost attempting to look forward for the next block that it can process.
sometimes this was a bit-wise corruption of the data itself, sometimes this was a bad sector on the Hard Drive.

I just upgraded to the 7232 and am having exactly the same problems, once it starts it even occur on live tv. Appears to be a software bug, the longer the thing runs the worse it gets. As this is a new unit it is running 1.9.1. I've seen picture drops, audio drops and unresponsiveness with live tv, recorded, and on demand. I don't think it has to do with the type of video, just in general the machine gets choked up.
