Digital Adapter and PC Tuner Card

I used Charter for 8 years and hooked up my computer through a tuner card (hauppauge 1250) to their TV cable, never had a problem.

The card is compatible with ClearQAM

I am trying to do the same with FIOS now and I am having more trouble that I can imagine

I got a Motorola Digital Adapter from Verizon (Standard Definition is fine for me) to see some of the non-hd channels like CNN, CNBC, etc

The PC (Windows ๐Ÿ˜Ž detects the TV Tuner card and starts to scan the channels but doesn't detect any channel

Has anyone ever tried this?

Is there a trick to get this working?

thanks

The Digital Adapter is for output to analog TV's - I use one with my old VCR.

You should try plugging the FIOS TV cable directly into your tuner card.

Hooking directly to the cable will only get you the local broadcast channels .  CNN, CNBC, etc. are all encrypted and require a tuner card that supports a cable card (to be rented from Verizon).
