FIOS Mini box white light goes on every night on one of 2 mini boxes

The white power light on ONE of my two mini boxes (both are wired by coax) goes on every night. I go to sleep and the white light is dim. When I wake up, the white light is bright, and the box (but not the attached TV) is on.  This does not happen on the second mini box. This started with the Guide update that Verizon pushed through over a month ago. A technician came to my house last week and replaced my FIOS One box and both mini boxes. The problem persists. I’ve tried rebooting, disconnecting power, etc., with no luck. Any suggestions?

The bright white light can be dimmed by going to : settings>media client settings>LED brightness. That should keep it from going bright.

But what’s causing it to happen in the first place?

White light is the power light when the unit is on. Something is turning the box on, maybe a scheduled recording, or another device in the chain.

look here for a chart that describes light function:

Is that the right link? It takes me to a general page with installation/setup instructions for the boxes.

Look at the bottom of the page. There is a "what do the lights mean" topic.

Thanks.  But what’s happening is on one of my mini boxes, and the white LED is switching from standby mode to power on mode in the middle of the night, with nothing being recorded anywhere in the house. No one else is using my boxes.  It’s only happening on one of two mini boxes.

Try unplugging the HDMI cable from the Fios box overnight and see if it still does it. If so you can eliminate the TV from sending a signal to the box. I'd also disable all notifications and suggestions on that box.

Thanks. I'll try that.

Both mini boxes had the lights on Monday morning (maybe another update was pushed through). Neither mini box had the lights lit bright this morning. I’ll keep observing.

Post if there is any change, thanks.

Even with all notifications turned off and the HDMI cable disconnected, the light on that one mini box comes on, and the box turns on, most nights — close to 2am Eastern time.

That sounds like a similar issue I have with an ATT uverse mini i have. Every night at 2am, the box looses its connection to the server, 2 minutes later it comes back on. Tech support says its renewing its DHCP lease, but they don't know why. Maybe your mini is doing something similar. Try removing it from the network, then let it be rediscovered. At least we eliminated the TV as the source of the problem.

Thanks. I disconnected the mini box from the network, then rebooted and re-connected. Let’s see what happens over the next few days.

So even after I disconnected from the network and rebooted, the light came on again and the box turned on — right around 2am again Monday morning.

Doon't know how else to help you out. Something is turning that box on at 2am, just have to figure out what it could be. Is it hooked up via WiFi or wired? Did you disable ALL notifications? What APR version is the box on?

Thanks. I guess I’ll call Verizon once again.

APR version is 7.5. All notifications are off. Mini box is wired; wifi is off.

I'm wondering if you are getting the APR 7.8 update and it isn't going through, or went part way through. Usually that results in a flashing green light, but maybe that's what is happening. They usually push through in the early hours.

Both mini boxes as well as my FIOS One box have the same APR version 7.5.

does it do it on both minis? If not try swapping them to see if it follows the box. If so, I'd get Verizon to send you a new one.

It only happens occasionally (like once per week) on the second box. But a Verizon tech was at my house and already swapped out all of my boxes 2 weeks ago.
