My Fios dvr box rebooted by itself. Once it completed the reboot I noticed that my favorites are completely blank. Worse yet when I go into settings to try to recreate my favorites list both favorites 1 and 2 have no channels listed and are completely blank so I am unable to select any channels to add. Anyone else have this problem lately?

We have 4100 series STBs in our house. I don't use the Favorites feature, but I was able to add four channels to Favorites 1 and filter so that only those channels are displayed in the guide. 🤔

I just fixed the fav prob. While on a tv channel use the right arrow button to take you to Genres&Filters. Select In HD
Once I did that everything started to work again. Was also able to add to favs again.

I was able to add or remove channels, but I thought I would have to re-add all my favorites. I followed your instructions and my favorites list came back to where it was before. Thank you!

Yes, after rebooting at around 10:30 AM ET i was able to get favorites #1 to work as they used to, and i didn.t have to reseed my favorites. Thats good.
Favorites #2 hasn't work as documented in several years, and still doesnt work as advertised, but thats another issue for another day.

Yeah, things seem to be working now. I didn't do anything to fix it, didn't reboot or try any special menus. Hopefully random channels won't be added to my favorites that I can't remove now too.

Yes, glad you mentioned the random channels being added. That has been an ongoing problem on Fav 1 for a while, but it seems like they were added like extras and then taken out the next day, but some I would have to cull out manually. That's not how a Favorites option is supposed to work. I'm glad my browser doesn't do that with bookmarks/favs. What a mess that would be.

Yes, THEY'RE BACK!
Well, Fav 1 is back to normal, but, as you said Fav 2 hasn't worked right for many years and I've given up on it after removing and re-selecting without my choices being saved. Sure enough, someone (the cable goblin) puts whatever he or she wants into Fav 2. I can live without Fav 2 (unless they find a fix for it, which would be nice, or else just rename it UnFav 1).
So, after a very taxing, anxiety-inducing Nov. 21, I feel like at least one part of my life is working again. For what it's worth, I'm a senior citizen and we like things to work and be stable. Especially if we are paying for costly cable service. I've always liked Verizon FIOS after enduring one of their competitors, but it is becoming more expensive. I wish Verizon could work a deal with, say, the top 5 streamers to offer a package that wouldn't kill cable, but would allow customers to just have to pay one bill instead of separate bills for different television delivery systems. Maybe it will evolve to where cable and streaming can find a way to peacefully co-exist and everyone benefits.
Right now, I have older equipment, all the premium channels, and no streaming. That means, as a sci-fi buff, I'm missing all the great sci-fi shows, especially Star Trek's newer programs on Paramount+ and, worst of all, the new Dr. Who that is going Disney only after being on BBCAmerica for such a long time. But, most of us who are not born wealthy or win the lottery, have to make choices in where our dollars go. Please Verizon, keep up quality service and reasonable price packages that you've been known for.

I hear ya. I've been thinking of cutting the cord. Do you have a smart tv? Or a smart capable tv? There are some free streaming channels. One I really like is Pluto TV. It has channels for specific shows and genres. For example there is an I Love Lucy channel. There's a channel for each CSI. There's classic TV. There's Sci fi. Only catch is there are commercials. But they aren't very long.

If you have a smart TV you already have streaming capability. If not for about $35 you can buy a Roku or Firestick and have a LOT of free streaming content like the Roku Channel, Pluto TV, and any channels you subscribe to in your Fios lineup. The Roku channel has a LOT of programming, and there is a live TV option that behaves like live TV with a number of other channels.

Thanks for the valuable information. I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I do have a smart TV made by TCL with Roku as the "operating system?" installed. But, honestly, whenever I turn it on there are so many options for streamers that cost extra, plus channels and programs I'm not familiar with, that I just watch Fios on it because it's what I'm used to. That's a poor excuse, but learning how "new" things operate is more difficult than it used to be. I can't say that I don't have the time to explore the system, so I best try to dispel the saying that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." 😄
I feel spoiled with the many years of reliable service and ease of use that I've gotten from Verizon Fios. I am not a paid endorser. Just want to keep life simple. You have encouraged me, though, to see what I'm missing.

I find streaming to be a bit more complicated than cable TV, but in the end there are a lot of programming options that cable doesn't provide. Having to switch inputs on the TV is the first hurdle, then as you said finding content is a HUGE pain, but once you begin to discover things like the Roku channel, you will get more comfortable with it. There is also a very good search option on the Roku home screen. You can input a specific title and it will find it, or genre, or sport, etc. It is VERY flexible.

And, the Roku remote is...challenging in its simplicity! 😉

Today when I pressed the Favorites button on the remote it said I had none set up. I tried calling Verizon but am on hold for over an hour and a half. Ugh. Just wanted to know why it happened and if they could restore the favorites.

Yep, I started my TV this morning and noticed the favorites are gone, and I can't add them back either. I go to a channel and try to add it and nothing happens. I think the update that must've happened messed something up. Maybe it will fix itself later but I'm not hopeful.

I have one of the older Cisco boxes from 2012....I wonder if this is just another way to force an upgrade that we do not need?

Finally got through to support. I was told it probably indicated a hard drive is failing in my older DVR and there's no way that they can restore the favorites.

5 people so far have discovered this issue today and posted this issue, which probably means others are having the same issue. Do you really think its a a problem with your hard drive?

My Fios rebooted today and I lost favorites on “2” set top boxes. Highly doubt it’s the hard drive. It definitely seems like it was due to the Verizon reboot. Too many Verizon customers are experiencing the same problem. I will give Verizon a day or two to see if they resolve it. They must be aware of this problem by now. 🙏🏻

Add to my post above. I also lost ability to scroll through channels. Can only change channels with guide.
