Go to Menu > Settings > Voice Control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Voice Remote > Manual Setup > Press ‘OK’ to select.
Select the TV brand and model and follow the steps.

Same issues for past week, fios remote no longer controls voice and TV on/off. We have Vizio E32-C1. I have read through entire thread, the reference to Fios One confused me (not sure what Fios One is) we have the VZ P265v5 RC remote.
I followed suggestions in thread:
1. I went to settings>audio&video>audio>Volume Control it only allows setting to Fixed or Variable. It was set on Variable all the years since getting the TV and remote worked fine. I changes to Fixed, and back no difference. Left on Fixed after all the back and forth.
2. I went to Menu>Help to reprogram remote, followed directions stated TV and nothing.
3. I then followed the remote reprogram on back of remote(duh🤦🏻♀️) and it fixed the issue.🤟🏼
The difference was following the directions on the back of the remote. Hope this helps anyone reading that has the same remote.

Glad you figured it out on your own. The Fios One boxes are the new 4K capable boxes, based on your remote you have one of the older boxes. The remote you have is user-programmable with codes, the Fios one remote is voice controlled and has to be programmed through the Fios Box. That's where all the problems are coming from.

I have the same issue. The remote previously controlled volume properly. Today when I turned on the tv, it said the remote needed to be paired again so I did. After I paired it, it no longer controls volume. I followed the manual steps. I select Sony, it says to press ok button and asks if the volume changes. It does! So I hit accept. Then if I hit the volume buttons after pairing, it says “fixed” and doesn’t change the volume. This seems to be a common issue. Please do not respond with the same instructions which are not addressing the issue.

If you see "FIXED" when pushing the volume buttons then the remote is trying to use the Fios box, not the TV or receiver to control the volume. Something has gone wrong when you tried to set up the remote, and for now all I can tell you is to remove and reprogram the remote again.

Fix your remote volume ——I went to settings/voice control/FIOS tv voice remote/program FIOS tv voice remote/reset remote set up. Takes a few seconds message come up - “Reset success”. Then I went to manual set up/select tv/press ok. Volume changed I pressed ok and now it works again. I did this on 2 tv’s and now they are both working. You want the volume on “fixed” it will go to level “30”. Then you are controlling TV volume. If you have a receiver and it is linked thru the TV like Sony smart link do NOT set up “select audio system”. Also this cannot be done thru “My Dashboard”. It was working fine for months then like others said then it prompted me to point the remote at the tv to finish programming. Since this appears to be high on the complaint list Verizon should have this info readily available!!

I wanted to add that I also have a Sony TV, but when I do the manual setup, it says to press ok and see if the volume changes, and it does. Once I exit out to live TV, pressing volume up changes the input on the Sony TV, and pressing volume down turns the Sony TV off! Volume control does not work! I tried all other Sony codes and the first code is the only one that does anything. I believe there is an internal problem with the programming/firmware of the FiOS One remote.

Please give me the model# of your TV and I'll send this to support and see what they come up with. Thanks.

Have you tried the solution this person had?

I have a very simple setup, Verizon FiOS One main box (not a Mini), a Samsung Model UN55C7000WF TV, and that's it. I was getting all the crazy stuff seen in this thread, where the remote Volume Up was acting like the Input button, the Volume Down was turning the TV off. It didn't matter how I set it up, even when I selected the exact TV Model.
I tried resetting the remove and setting it up again, removing the batteries, etc, many times, all to no avail: same symtpoms. But I was always using the stuff from the Settings > Voice Remote menu, the Auto and Manual selections there. They only test the volume during their setup.
Finally, I did a full reset of the entire box (not just the remote), using the menus to do a full reset. That triggered the default Remote Setup, where not only does it test the Volume, but it also does a Power Off/Power On test. After that, my remote started working perfectly.

GOT IT BACK. Did everything here a dozen times. Called Verizon. We reset box. Then we reset the Fios remote (press "back" and "last" together till red light, punch in 3 numbers, 983 I think.) Still wasn't working. Accidentally switched input from HDMI to "TV" and lost my TV for a long while. Kept bouncing through all the inputs multiple times, with both Fios remote and TV remote. Minutes later TV came back. And with it, volume control. VZ rep didn't know why, but said maybe it was the switch from HDMI to "antenna", as he called it. Whatever it was, it worked for me.

Good luck! 1 800 VERIZON. Ask for Steve.
Sounds like the input switching reset the HDMI pairing between the box and your TV. Next time try powering off the TV and the box. Remove the HDMI cable between them, turn both back on for 2 or 3 minutes, plug HDMI cable back in. That will usually reset the HDMI pairing and cause a new handshake between the two devices.

This is what has enabled the power on/off function of my Verizon FiOS remote paired to my SONY Bravia TV (KD-55X750H). I hope it proves helpful for other TV brands.
- Go to Settings
- Bravia Settings
- External Inputs
- HDMI CES Settings
- CEC set to "on"
- Device Auto Power off
- Set the on/off option to "off"
- TV Auto Power on
- Set the on/off option to "off
- Push the "off" button on the remote to test the settings.

January 18, 2021.
Looks like we’ve all been here. My TV is a SAMSUNG. Volume Up and Down, Mute and TV On/Off stopped working. It helps to know that the ‘Play’ button is immediately below the blue DVD button. No label.
With the TV On and a FIOS show on the screen, here are the steps:
- Press OK and Fios TV buttons at the same time for two seconds and let go. Remote red light will blink and then stay on.
- This next step is tricky because things happen fast. Poise your finger over the ‘Play’button.
- While watching the screen, press –AND HOLD- this until the TV turns Off then release immediately! Mine must have been first on the list and I was late. Returned to the TV On and a show on the screen, begin again at the first step. Faster the next time around. Then . . .
- TV turned Off and I instantly let go.
Test the top left TV On/Off button on your Remote. If it operates you have probably solved all of the problems. Your Volume control scale may look different now. The now label reads: ‘TV Volume’. My speakers are fine.
For what it’s worth, the Verizon crews have been in the neighborhood for several months lacing in newer, much larger cable. They may have accidentally caused the problem during a hook-up.

For those whose remote was working to power the tv on/off but wasn’t working to control the volume. I had this issue and just solved it by after pairing the remote went to Menu/Settings/Voice Control/Fios TV Voice Remote/Program Fios TV Voice Remote/Switch Audio Device. Select “TV” instead of “Audio Video Receiver”. This fixed my issue of not being able to control the volume.
